More Email Issues...i Know I Know

I know this is a broken record on this forum HAHA.

I thought I FINALLY had it figured out but I guess not. Not all emails are sending. Before emails would get flagged as spam, I'd go into my message trace, look up what emails got flagged, look up the IP Address, add the IP Address to my "safe senders list" problem solved. After doing this about 10 times, I think I got the "whole block" of IP's added. I haven't had issues for MONTHSSSS. Starting this week I noticed not all my emails were getting viewed as it usually pulls up the eye icon next to the email. I didn't think anything of it until I had a client ask about their contract and I said I sent it, I looked, it showed sent...I said I'd send it again. With them on the phone, nothing. So I sent it 2-3 more times. They finally received it ONCE.

Now the weird part. NONE of these emails are even touching my server. When I run a trace on my email account, it shows ALL emails sent and received. Whether it went through, was flagged, quarantined, etc. A good 75% of these emails are simply not touching my server so I can't even view the IP Address to add it to the safe list.

I know I know, Sytist is simply the relay, and once you click send it's up to the server provider, but if it's not even touching the server provider, then what??? I contacted Microsoft and they are "looking into it", but they pretty much said we don't see anything incoming.

So after two hours on the phone with GoDaddy and them looking into everything, and running MULTIPLE tests. Some forms/actions work, some don't. And they can't figure it out. They see everything that works and it goes through. The things that don't work they don't see at all, no errors, no rejections, zero trace.

What works

  • Sending email message from order page.
  • Sending Booking reminder from Users Account page
  • Email Test button

What does not work

  • Send invoice
  • Send confirmation
  • Client contact form on contact page
  • New Booking

That's great news! AND an easy fix, I love easy fixes lol. I will update now.

What was the issue? Looks like this fix took place in November and I didn't have any issues until 3 days ago.

If your problems started 3 days again then it could be some other issue with godaddy.

It is NOT an issue with Syitst.

The issue resolved in the update had something to do with the HTML code of the email.

I'll try the update first as GoDaddy already went round and round with it and couldn't find anything.

As always, appreciate everything you do.

Updated site. Contact forms and contracts work now. Booking confirmations and invoices still do not send. So the update fixed some of the issues, not all. Nothing touches the server whatsoever for the other two. So Sytist creates the action, but then it's just lost in space.

I am in the same boat with emails and it's been years.  :(

I have a godaddy hosting account I pay for monthly just to deal with all of their issues. I have just tested thoroughly sending invoices and booking confirmations and both are going through.

No idea why yours are not. They are not hitting the server because something GODADDY is doing is causing that. If it is similar to the contact form issue it is rejecting some of the HTML code in those emails. Maybe you can have their tech support look into that. But I am unable to duplicate those issues on my godaddy hosting account.

I am on hold with GoDaddy right now to take a crack at this. Do you by chance use Google workspace for your email?

Sean!!!  Tim!!!  I think I've figured it out.

I was with Godaddy for 2 hours (mostly on hold) and the gentleman and I did some investigating together. As he started doing some test, I also got ideas to test my forms and emails and it snowballed from there.  I won't bore you with the boring details (even though sometimes the "way" is far more interesting) but here's what we concluded:

1. Some, not all, emails were being marked as spam.  I removed my custom header and footer and they were finally sending.

2. Keep the email titles and form titles short - Mine weren't even that long to begin with, but somehow changing the titles helped emails send through

3. Remove www bc some browsers will flag any link as not secure.

I have no confidence this is the final fix, but it's better than nothing.  I was ready to throw in the towel to be honest.

Great info! Unfortunately did not work for me.

GoDaddy is pointing fingers at my Web Developer, my web dev is pointing fingers at GD, Microsoft is just sitting in the corner laughing. I'm sitting over here not giving a rats rear whose fault it is I just want a working website, not sure why that's so hard.

I agree. It is INSANELY frustrating and such a huge time waster.  If you find a fix, because I am sure this will happen again, please post here!  Good luck

GoDaddy just installed a php mailer test on my website and it works every single time. Now they say it's not on their end lol. YES, very frustrating. Especially when you're on the phone for MULTIPLE hours wasting time with zero results.

Sean, are the emails you’re sending to the same email address as the one sending them fro? GoDaddy told me those ones won’t work. That’s the only exception.  Try sending to your personal

No they are not. I am sending from info@seanscarmack.com to sscarmack@dalkoresources.com and I tried to my personal also sscarmack@gmail.com with no luck. Also have sent multiple to other clients, so 3-4 different email addresses on top of that in the past week, with no luck.

GoDaddy is now saying to reach out to Microsoft lol. Such a circle cluster for something so simple.

Did the SMTP PHPMailer not work better?

https://www.picturespro.com/sytist-manual/common-issues/emails-not-sending-or-going-into-spam-folders/

4) If you are using the PHP mail() function in Settings -> Mail Sending Settings, you can try the SMTP PHPMailer option if you haven't already (instructions here) which may work better than the mail() function.

I just made this change, the emails are sent, and received, but when someone (I used my personal email as a test) tried to reply back to the email it gets an undeliverable kick back. I just called GoDaddy inquiring about this and they basically said that's just how it is and most people use a DoNotReply type of email.

This doesn't work for me.

If a bride books me, and gets a booking confirmation, or I send an invoice, she can't reply back to me and ask a question? I have to put in that email asking her to email another email. So adding incovnenience and confusion.

This is becoming beyond frustrating.

What was the reason  for the undeliverable email? Did it not come from your email address?

But the emails that were not sending went through with the SMTP PHPmailer?

I created mail@seanscarmack.com from the CPanel and connected it SMTP. Test worked.

I then sent a test invoice to myself. Invoice went to sscarmack@dalkoresources.com. Invoice was received.

I tried to reply back to that email saying "Invoice received", I then got this error.

Since you are not managing your email addresses through cPanel I don't know what to tell you to do.

You might be able to use the mail servers for your office 365 in the the PHPMailer settings instead of the server ones.

I was with goDaddy for over an hour this time, and they didn't escalate me to level 2. They said my email address was being blocked and I had to change all my passwords and wait 24 hours. I can't tell what the problem is here - GoDaddy, Google Workspace or Sytist. :*(

Tim, at this point I don't even no where to go, who to talk to, what to to. I try all suggestions, nothing works. I call GoDaddy and waste literal hours with no results. I try to get ahold of Microsoft and it's been 48 hours with no one even calling me back.

If you offer this, I will gladly pay you, please just fix it. Do whatever is needed to get my website sending and receiving emails and so I can reply back to people. I'll give you every login I have (you have access already to my sytist), I can give you my GoDaddy info. If I need a different host, fine, If I need a different email, fine. Just do whatever you need to do and give me a bill when it's done and working. I can't keep having these issues, no knowing whether my clients are getting my emails or if they can reply back, etc.

Exactly, the server is screwing it up, not Sytist.

Sean if you want me to investigate it it will be a minimum $200 support charge which you will have to pay first here

And email me access to your Sytist and your cPanel with correct login credentials.
