Urgent! - Orders Not Coming Through

Something has changed overnight with my site.

I received orders yesterday which have worked fine and I received all full order notifications.

This morning, I have received two orders which are definitely being paid (I'm receiving paypal payment notification), but are not converting from carts to orders. They are remaining as carts in their profiles but they are not being transferred to orders.

Fortunately, I can see what they have ordered from the carts which are remaining in their accounts, but no orders are being fulfilled in the orders section of the website.

I have just confirmed this with a test order and my carts are not being converted into orders even though I get paypal payment notifications.

Test emails are working fine.

I have not updated or changed anything with sytist or paypal.

I've put the site into maintenance mode until I can sort this out.

Anybody help?

It could be the server (firewall or something like that) blocking the PayPal IPN

Check the IPN history in your PayPal account to see if there are any errors. Log into your PayPal account then go to the following link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-ipns-history

You should have a Search Results section. If nothing is in it, change the dates to when a payment was made.

Date/time created Message ID Status Transaction ID

What is under Status?

HI Tim.

I think it might be a problem with PayPal or with my hosting.

The carts have now finally converted to orders after a wait of several hours!!! For example, an order placed at 10:12 this morning (and which I received an immediate payment notification for) didn't get converted to an order until 12:28. See the attachments. All statuses are now 'sent'.

It has always been virtually immediate with any orders I have ever received before, which is what raised my concerns.

So it was a huge sigh of relief when they came through. I've now taken my system out of maintenance mode.

I was glad that both of the orders this morning had been made with people who have accounts - I could still see what they had ordered because their carts were for the same amount as the PayPal transaction receipt. So from now on, I'm going to enforce account creations for anybody ordering from my site. I don't think my heart can take paypal receipts coming totally out of the blue!

Any reason why the order confirmation takes so long after the transaction has complete?

"Any reason why the order confirmation takes so long after the transaction has complete?"

Some sort of communication error between PayPal and the server ... outside of Sytist.
