Clf Displaying Expired Galleries On One Category, Not On Another

Okay, I should have been able to figure this out on my own, but I can't! On one of my category pages (events) my CLF display is full of pretty pictures, even if I don't have any currently active galleries (expired galleries show). I look busy and successful - hurray.
On another category (seniors) only active, non-expired galleries show in the CLF display, and I look like I do very little business. Other galleries show below the display, but not in it.
I've checked the settings for the CLF displays on both categories, and they're the same. Any insights into what else I should be looking for?

Hi Tim. I had all those settings already, but now suspect that maybe CLF-display only shows current galleries. The page I thought showed expired galleries doesn't use the clf display. A few less-used categories have a magazine-image displaying on the clf-display because all the galleries in them expired. I think I'll just disable it, though it would be cool in the future if it could respect the 'Hide expired Pages' settings.
