Downloading Photo List With Group & Passcode As A Csv

I use the .csv template to upload passcodes that matches group photos  to individual students. It is excellent.

Can this procedure be reversed and a download of the same "modified" .csv be extracted from the database?

Here is the scenario.

School web site is up and running. All is good. Then a parent wants us to upload previous years photos, so we do and modify the passcode on these photos on the web site, NOT on the .csv we have on one of our computers. It is a bit of a dirty hack but its fast and does not interfere with other parents who may be on the web site trying to do place an order at the same time.

Later maybe we want to do a new upload off photos eg absentees, to the web site.

Here's the issue, it would be faster to add them to an updated .csv that was an accurate depiction of what is on the web site (having downloaded it in its up to date state), rather than edit the local computer version and then try to work out what else was adjusted earlier on the web site itself.

Can this be incorporated in the next update, or is it able to be done now.

Thank you

If it is a QR passcode photos gallery, there is an option to export the photos with the associated data, but not with the other passcode photos method. I have been considering changing the non-qr passcode method to work more the QR passcodes since it has a lot more abilities, but don't have any timeline on that.

Much thanks. i know for one that I would appreciate it :-)

I don't use the QRs/ i played with it but my concern is getting 3-8 year olds to take it home to give to the parents. Schools here never share parents email addresses with "contractors" , which is fair enough.

Two ideas that might make things easier in that regard:

1. I don't give the QR code to the student immediately after taking their photo. I keep the sheet and compile the class together with a clip. At the end of the day I can do a count on each class's sheets to verify that I have them all, and then I deliver them to the office before leaving. The office then distributes out to each class. For younger students, the teacher can just tuck the sheet into their folder or agenda (whatever class notices go home in) instead of relying on the student to handle it.

2. In the past, if a parent reached out looking for their code, I would need to go to the school admin for permission to share it, as I don't know which child belongs to which parent, or if there are any custody arrangements that would block access.  This is the same for passcode or QR usage.  This year, I sent a PDF of the QR codes to the school admin, so if there are any parents looking for lost sheets the office can handle giving them the code or issuing a reprint. If the parent reaches out to me, I just say, "Candice at the office can help you with that!" It has saved me so much time.

Thank you Selina. Re 2. above yup! I know that feeling esp. when parents family name and the childs family name are quite different.

This message thread could go off on a tangent here but I will ask on methodology of QR codes. I am currently using Capture One, and we copy and past student names into the naming field which means every photo is named with the childs class and name immediately as they are shot. We work off a spreadsheet (openoffice/excel) so we can marjk them off as we shoot

With the QR method do you print out QR codes for every child, then shoot them with the QR code as a reference, then pose them without it for the main photo(s)? Renaming their photos in Capture one as you go?

Much thanks

I don't use Capture One so I can't speak to that aspect of it unfortunately.

I print off QR codes for each student, as I do send them home with a paper QR code. Some people just open the QR codes on their phone or tablet though. You take a photo of the QR code, and then take the photos of the student. I'm using lightroom to edit, so when I export out of there, I export the full class at once and just name the photos mybusinessnameSchoolName2025Grade2-001.jpg. The QR codes are included in this export.
The key with the QR codes when uploading the photos to the gallery is that you want the QR code photo as the first photo in the series of each student. The system them assigns the photos to the QR code that was before them. They don't get renamed during upload, just linked.

Yes, I played with this. Can you link teams/clubs/societies/full class photos using this method? With the student codes you can, but its a fair bit of meticulous checking and rechecking to ensure the codes are matched correctly

If I understand the question correctly, yes you can. Your CSV to import can have columns for the class (I think you can have more than one) and then you can create groups for those.
