Ai Watermark Removal - Solutions From Sytist In Regard To Reducing Risk

I am doing some research on just how we are going to tackle online galleries and having photos for sale on line when the rise of watermark removers is getting more advanced each passing day.

What solutions has Sytist got / or looking into to provide protection for our photos in the future from screenshotting  ?

Also wondering what photo settings are you all using to currently display photos in a gallery ?  Perhaps we need to lower the resolution just enough that it would be a crap screenshot  - but just enough to show the photo.
Im worried though this would have a negative effect on people's buying decisions as they most likely would not read (or not understand)  that they would receive it in full resolution for download and printed at high resolution.

Thoughts ?

There arent any solutions.

450px long edge, down from 900.

Make them pay prior to viewing the gallery and limit it per person.

We broched the subject of pre-pay with one school that we know suffers greatly from it, due to one person on their FB group, and they said no and would change photographer if we did it.

Thinking of dropping the school next year due to sales of one third what they were four years ago.

Perhaps they'll feel guilty when nobody photographs at the school and finally stop doing it.

I’m thinking it’s not going to go away until there’s a huge class action lawsuit against the AI removal apps owners. Kinda like what Napster did to music. Unfortunately ai watermark removal will continue until a lawsuit happens and it’s determined in court that ai watermark removal is an infringement on copyrighted material.

We use Pixnub software He has a great watermark that is VERY hard for AI to remove.

Righto - Lawsuit it is then ! ha !

Pixnub software - so then is that something that sytist can build in to it's gallery uploading - the watermark Im talking about.    But it's only a matter of time before even that's not strong enough for AI really .  Im not too familiar with it - I used it a while back for removing background - but that's not something I need for my workflow.

if Tim got in touch with Damond it could be.   There are a few other companies that use his stuff

seems like a good possible solution that would really make his volume software stand out against the likes of got photo (not that we can use them here in Australia anyhow).

I wonder what Got Photo are doing to prevent screenshotting - I havent looked at their  website for a while now as it's not something I would be interested in (hefty commissions that is).

That watermark is just a randomly distorted colour wheel .png overlay and can be replicated in gimp / ps quite easily.  Don't think there's anything unique about it.

We do use a similar random colourwheel pattern ourselves, but I recommend that you place your website details within the colour wheel to make it unique, if possible.

Can't prevent screenshots, unless it's purely app based on mobiles, and your customers have downloaded your app from the store, making it a non starter for us.

that’s funny I used the same site on the same image and it couldn’t do it.   That goes to show AI learning.

^^ Yep, unfortunately, any solution like this is first day yay!  2nd day nay :/

We used to have lo-res/smaller images on Sytist - as I remember when the pixel-peeking magnifier upgrade came in and I wrote in here if I could opt out of that/turn it off as I didn't want it for these reasons.  Maybe in 2020?  I'll try to find the thread.
