Replacing Photos With The Same Name

I am resizing some of my photos then uploading them with the same file name. I have selected "Replace files with the same file name" but once uploaded I end up with 2 copies of the same file (with different index numbers). How do I achieve a full replacement of the original file?

I suspect the file names are not exactly the same. Be sure they are exactly the same, case and file extension.

The file names are identical.

I use winSCP to upload the files, then select Upload Photos from within the Category they belong to.  The keywords only match the one category. Are there any boxes need ticking other than "Replace files with the same file name"?

Oh you are uploading via FTP.  Replacing photos via FTP doesn't work. You will need to upload them with the uploader. I'll have to look into adding that functionality to FTP uploads.
