Why Are There "?" In The Main Links Area Of My Home Page?

It may be hard to see so I circled them, but why are there "?" in the Main Link area?

You have something in the "Separate Links With" option in the top main menu in your theme that isn't encoded correctly.
Edit your them and refer to the attached screenshot where to remove it.

Thank you! That fixed it - but we didn't make any changes to the themes. Could it have been installed like that? Just curious.
