Any Tips For Moving Sytist To Aws Lightsail?

I've decided on moving our Systist platform from self-hosting to AWS Lightsail. Our use case for Sytist is strictly for prepay orders, and we don't have hundreds of thousands of images in galleries. I believe our overall Sytist folder is under 2GB.

For anyone that has made this transition from your original host to Lightsail, are there any tips or things I should expect to minimize any surprises that could create issues? I'm essentially going to follow the instructions in the manual found here. I plan to make a backup of the database before the transition.

I had all my websites on AWS lightsail and ended up moving away. Cheaper but a hassle if anything goes wrong. They made an update one-time and shut down all my websites. Spent a good part of a day trying to figure things out. The only way to get help is to pay. Went ahead and paid and found out it was something they messed up.

If you have anything mission critical go to a VPS host where you have more control but have backups and  have 24/7 help if needed. I use A2hosting now.

Do you recollect what the original issue was and how long ago that was?

It was a bad update and they didn't notify anybody...I only found out by a post somewhere that they screwed up and everything started working again. This was last year sometime, but was enough for me to start transition over to a VPS. I was original on a VPS and wanted to save money, and the company was having some DOS attacks that were slowing things down and wanted to try something different. But ended up moving back after a couple of years as it just wasn't worth the hassle.

Understood. Thanks for the feedback.

I don't have any experience with AWS Lightsail

I would suggest using a hosting company like:

Shawn, I forgot to ask. Did you have a managed or unmanaged VPS with both Lightsail and your current VPS provider?
