Not quite sure where I should ask this but I'm trying to figure out how to submit our sites to search engines (google, bing). If we have a hosted site with Sytist I don't think I have root access to place the codes. Is that correct? If so, how should we go about this?

You should have the option to add a HTML tag in the HEAD code for verification.
So you would copy that code and paste it in Design -> Header & Footer -> <HEAD> CODE.
Also, Settings -> Site Map will give you your link to the site map.
