Two Payments No Order

I have a real problem.  I have a client who has items in his cart and some how has paid twice once by amex via apple and once by another credit card - I use Stripe payments with 3d v2 verification.  There is no order  on his account. I am not sure what is going on.  

I have also attempted to place an order and when getting to the payment screen for card a new item has appeard - pay by link.  I have never seen the pay by link and when click on it for myself it says I do not have any linked accounts (I am not sure if it is relevant but I use google as a browser).  

Can anyone shed any light on this? I cannot understand how someone can pay and there be no order.

Have you successfully used Stripe before? 

Log into your stripe account and view that transaction. Scroll to the bottom and there will be an event log. Any errors there?

I have been in correspondence with the client and he says he want two duplicate orders, hence to the two payments. 

I have used Stripe successfully for years.  When checking the log against the payment it says that pending webhook response.  

I will check the webhooks on the website (I have recently changed hosting company).  Against a successful payment I have found the following  

<html> <head><title>301 Moved Permanently</title></head> <body> <center><h1>301 Moved Permanently</h1></center> <hr><center>aruba-proxy</center> </body> </html>

I have contacted my hosting company but not sure what else I can do.  The webhooks etc look ok. I am not sure if I can do anything my end.
