Twilio Config Issues

I initially set up Twilio in Oct 2022. It worked with Sytist and I verified I could send and receive messages. But, I never enabled automated messaging..

I now would like to start using it to send automated messages about galleries, etc. However, since Oct 22, there are now a bunch of new A2p Regulatory Compliance hoops I had to jump through with Twilio.

I was able to complete the registration process yesterday and verified I could now send messages again from Sytist. However, none of my test text replies were showing up in Sytist. This morning, none of the messages I send from Sytist are being received. In addition, all of my test send messages only show a status of "queued" in Sytist ... even though they were actually delivered to my cell phone yesterday.

I haven't modified any of the API settings, but i noticed Twilio changed the messaging service to the new one that was recently registered. I think it used to be a webhook.

I'm totally stuck. How do I troubleshoot this?

Go to Settings -> SMS / Text Messages -> Sent Messages. Mouse over the information icon next to the delete icon and it may give you an idea what the issue is.

I dug into the monitor logs on the Twilio side. Twilio is receiving a 403 Forbidden error when trying to access https://www.paulmanoian.com/clients/sy-inc/twilio-...

The 403 error explains why Sytist is able to send message, but not receive SMS message update. But, I can't figure out when a 403 is being generated.

403 error is generated by triggering mod security on the server  (or ModSec). Mod security is good but also has false positives.  So Twilio's response is being blocked by mod security.

You would need to contact your hosting company support about it and they can whitelist the rule that is being triggered.

Then something else on the server is blocking it.

"The HTTP 403 Forbidden response status code indicates that the server understands the request but refuses to authorize it."

I traced it down to a rule in my .htaccess file that was blocking the responses from Twilio. I'm all set now. Thanks!
