Sytist 4.8 Upgrade Now Available

A major addition in this upgrade is a new QR Passcode Photos system. 

Generate QR codes that contain a photo passcode to photograph when photographing subjects that automatically password protects the subjects' photos in the gallery.

Other changes include: 

• Updated PayPal Checkout to Advanced Checkout where you can enable the credit card form to display directly on the page.
• Added the option to add "Subject First Name" and "Subject Last Name" fields to booking services to collect the subject's name (e.g., child's name when parent is booking). 
• Added the option for lead time to special events so you can prevent same day bookings. Set lead time to 1 to prevent same day bookings.
• Added to the "Do not allow adding photos to this collection from different galleries, sub-galleries" option in collections to include not allowing to add photos with different passcodes. So a parent  can't add multiple children to the same collection without having to create different sub galleries for siblings.

How to update:
The first time each day you log into the admin it will check for the update and if one is available you will have a notice in blue on your Sytist admin homepage

If you have already logged into your admin today, then you won't get the notice until tomorrow. Or you can click Settings in the main menu then UNDERNEATH the left menu click check for update.

I just updated and the update erased all gallery preview photos and I cannot re-add them!!

yes same thing happened to me, preview photo is the first photo in the gallery and when i go to change it does not update.

looking forward to working with the new QR codes, thanks for much for adding this feature!

To add, sub gallery preview photos are not affected, just the ones for the main gallery. I still see them but they don't show anymore on the site.

Update 4.8.1 will fix this. To have it check for an update now , click Settings in the main menu then UNDERNEATH the left menu click check for update.

You deserve to do well with this update as it removes a big block for many people using Sytist, over a more SaaS solution like GotPhoto.

One initial concern that I know UK school photographers are going to face if they rely solely on Sytist:  we have to give the school an identity image of each pupil file named exactly with their unique identifier in the database - e.g. 001234.jpg at 600x400pixels    I am assuming obtaining this data and renaming upon export is not possible from the current iteration?  I haven't read the help files fully yet.

And I didn't get client order emails this morning after the update.

on 4.8.1 and generate qr code is giving a sytist url and not my websites url, printout updates with my sites url in the text and the passcode but the qr image is wrong

Tim this update with the QRCodes is a major feature for us school/Daycare photographers.  

The GotPhoto people have been after my business for awhile but I did not want to pay the high %Fee for using their sales techniques and did not like that the customers where taken to a different website url to view and purchase.   

I currently create my own passwords and scan using Foolography app.  I tested your new QRCode creating section and it looks like it will work fine.  

My dilemma is that I still send a paper proof with preview images and passcodes to my customers (no judgement HA, I just find that people still need to have something laying on the counter to remind them especially with the volume I photograph).  I run a script program that reads the passcodes embedded in the images and creates me a spreadsheet which I use to data merge in my price sheets/previews I print for the school parents.

I just tested and If I use your QRCode generator and scan them with the Foolography app before each student.  When I upload I make sure to uncheck the QRCode box and Stylist still reads the embedded passcode in the metadata.  IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!

I will now like to include the Systist QRCodes on my price sheet so the customers won't mistype passcodes and it takes them right to their gallery.  I have tried to use the export feature in the QRCode section but I am getting a fatal error.  

I would just like to have the info to recreate the QRCode that takes the customer directly to their gallery.

I successfully upgraded to 4.8.1 today. Everything seems to work, but only category previews are not loading. See https://www.otterspeer.com/agenda/ for example

When I click on list entries I get the following error and no data shows but i know its working as I can see the QR Codes when i click Print QR

I am thankful for this update and excited to put it to work. This brings Sytist up to a whole new level, great job on getting this in place!

I have noticed since applying the update I am not receiving order notification emails. I thought today was a slow day and then I logged in to the admin panel and saw I had quite a few new orders. 

I did a fake test order and I received the email a customer would receive after they order but l did not get the email that l should receive. I looked under email logs and I can see that I stopped receiving them after i applied the update. The last new order notification email i received was at 8:29 am and i applied the update shortly after that. i have not received any new order notification emails since.

Also when l go into the mobile site for QR codes and l hit list entries l am getting the "fatal error" message

when l go to add an entry everything works, but the QR code is too big and and l cant get it to go smaller so it does not work when you photograph it as the outside edges are missing. I have attached a screenshot from my iphone13.

Also when i am in the gallery admin under QR passcodes and hit the Export button i get another "fatal error" message

Can a QR code be created for a gallery with pre-order turned on and no subjects? In other words, we put the QR code on a poster, and parents can go straight to the pre-order site without having to enter the password? 

No, that's not how it works.

After playing with some of the amazing qr-additions to the system, I get an error when processing photos with the ftp option. Checked the QR-check option, click the Process link of a folder, and get the following error: Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class "QrReader" not found in /**********/sy-admin/process-ftp-upload.php:257

Another issue: When sending out the emails with passcodes to the registered people, the clickable passcodes in the email refer to a localhost address, not my website URL.

That was resolved with the 4.8.2 update.

You must be using a localhost address as it uses the $setup['url'] from the sy-config file like every other link that is sent out.

this is what I get when generating a single qr code, text reads fine, QR code however links to Sytist.co

The errors with the processing of the QR-photos occur still after update to 4.8.2.

All mails are working ok so far, except the mails with those passcodes. When a client receives a mail with fort example 2 passcodes of their children, the URL of the clickable passcode in the  mail points to "/?mypasscode=12345678", so it has no path, it's just that. The other link in the mail which points to the gallery (click here to see the gallery ....) does have the correct (full) path/URL.

4.8.3 - February 28, 2024

• Fixed "Print QR Code Without Subject Data" QR code linking to sytist.net 
• Fixed mobile sub menu not showing in Settings section (redid how the mobile menu shows in general).
• Fixed error when processing FTP upload and  checking for QR codes. 
• Fixed missing link in passcode URLs when emailing passcode information. 

To have it check again today for an update, click Settings in the main menu then UNDERNEATH the left menu click check for update.

when you go to edit entry on mobile all the fields are empty, i guess you can update the ones you have already filled out, but not the blank ones as it makes it hard to know which one to add the info to.

When uploading to qr-gallery (with check vor QR codes enabled) no new photos appear or being uploaded. With processing an ftp folder now i get the following errors:

Just trying to edit an existing FORM and it will not let me save.   Tryed a cople of forms and the same thing.

Not a crisis , just thought I would mention it to see if it was a new bug.

I can't duplicate this issue. Are you able to upload the same photos via the regular uploader?

No. When uploading regular it doesn't show that error, but images are not processed and not added to the gallery. When unchecking the qr-check everything works ok.

I can't duplicate that issue on 4 different hosts / servers.

What PHP version are you using?

Tim, I think one of the latest mini updates broke the capability to edit page text. The page no longer fully loads for me. I attached a pic of the error message.

The error occurs with php 8.2.16 on my server. Switched to 8.1.27, and then it worked. Switched back to 8.2, and now that works too. Strange :-)
