Sales Tax Not Being Charged On Digital Downloads Only
I've been trying to nail down this issue and thought it was paypal but it seems whenever somebody orders only digital files, sales tax is not being charged (I thought was only PayPal but doing it for Stripe too) even though I have it marked taxable (see attached). But when they order printed product with downloads, sales tax is being correctly charged for everything.
If being downloaded out of your state, then you need to setup the sate on which it is going and pay taxes to that state. beware many states do not have sales tax on digital goods. So in order to collect sales tax in each state you must apply for a sales tax licence in each state prior to taking taxes. Sales tax box must be checked in your actual product and the tax in each state in your state tax page.

Indian is exempt on digital photos
State tax is already setup...it's collecting tax correctly for printed items, but not for digital download where I have it marked. And it's even weirder as I just had an order come in for one digital download and tax was collected. These are all in-state orders.....and it jsut made me think that I don't force people to put in their address for download purcheses...but I do have some orders that don't have address be charged sales tax correctly...seems random.

Old info...Jan 1 2023 yes they are taxed.
weird Tim may ask what payment methods, paypal groups ever thing together on business standard so it will not show you a breakdown there. But there maybe other issues. Wait for Tim at this point.
Ya it's weird some are some aren't...but I did set it's required for all transactioins now...but just noticed today that it seemed random on what was being charged tax. I'm sure having the info mandatory will fix things (hopefully) but going over old orders it was going both ways!
