Slow Backend On Dreamhost

Hey! I'm trying to figure out if there is an issue on my sytist side of things or on the server side of things. I'm using Dreamhost VPS we also have our database on MySQL VPS - whenever I'm in the backend it's super slow... when I go to Site Content or Orders - when I add a new gallery or try to browse through the orders it can take 10-15 seconds to load in. 

I've done the optimization and cleared inactive accounts, etc.. but dreamhost claims there are no issues on their side.  The site itself runs fairly quickly but the slow down occurs when I'm trying to perform activities like orders, and galley adds. Uploading images is super fast (through FTP) and those post normally. 

We are high volume and our backed up database size is around 1.3GB so I'm just trying to see if there is some limitation within the database or if it should be quicker.  

Dreamhost claims no issues and our VPS has plenty of available RAM and HD space. 

If this is something that I can speed up with a web provider or faster package I will - but figured I would check here first to make sure it's not the amount of data in the database.

If you haven't done so, go to Stats -> Site Visitors -> Overview and click the Compile Older Stats. That might clear out a lot of data and speed things up.
