Disable Automated Reminder Emails Still Sending

I checked this and saved it and it shows as being turned on in the Gallery setup page, but they still send. What am I doing wrong? I have to answer all kinds of emails from parents that think their order was not placed.

The gallery is checked once a day then the emails are put into the queue to send at the time selected. If you turned it off after it did the check, the emails are still in the queue and will still send. You can see pending emails if there are any in Settings -> Automated Messages. There will be a link to view them if there are any pending.
