Paypal Ipn Sent But Not Converting To An Order.

HI

I have an order from a client that has been paid via Paypal (using a registered paypal account), the IPN is showing sent for the transaction ID in Paypal and my PP account has received the funds, but it has has not been converted into an order.

The item that she says she ordered is still showing in her basket. Can I manually convert that into an order?

I have resent the IPN from PP, but it is still not converting.

Any ideas?

She only contacted me because she noticed that she had not received her order confirmation email. I correctly received IPN notifications converted to orders before and after hers without issue.

I'm hoping that hers is the only order that is in this limbo state, as I have a very tight deadline between gallery closure and delivery due to the forthcoming Easter holiday.

Thanks Tim.

There seems to be a weird "bug" with the integration. I had about 15 new orders today, and 2 or 3 of them did the same thing. And yes, you can just click on the cart and then create invoice from it. Not sure if it will send them the confirmation, but they should be able to log in and see it since it's under their account. Hopefully Tim has a fix for this or an idea how to prevent it.

Hi Sean, thanks for the reply.

I have now converted it manually into an order.

Hmmm, concerning that others may also be having this problem at the moment.

I will have to go through our paypal payment transactions IDs and make sure that each has an order connected. That's going to be very laborious, to say the least. Shall update if I find more than this just this one.

Thank goodness that I insist that customers create accounts before adding to their baskets, as I wouldn't be able to trace them if they were anonymous IP address baskets.

Any ideas what might be causing this Tim?

Aside - I hope Tim is progressing with the new requirements for Square integration, I hate Paypal now more than ever (and that's saying something).

I'm up to four orders so far that have not generated an order from a confirmed and sent IPN from Paypal, and several of them I am having to refund as they are mistakenly paying twice for the same order for some reason. For those that I have noticed, I am creating the order manually from the persons account cart and then it does show in my orders list.

Does this double ordering indicate that it is Paypal or the sytist database that is at fault? Or is it possibly my host that are blocking some IPN notifications and not others? I can't see any reason why some are getting through and others not.

Thanks Tim for any help you can give.

For Sytist not to create the order then it did not receive the IPN back so something is blocking that.

You can check the IPN status. Info here:
https://www.picturespro.com/sytist-manual/common-issues/customer-paid-by-paypal-but-no-order-created/

And Sytist does not update / change itself to make something suddenly stop working.

Hi Tim

Very curious this one.

All IPNs are showing as being sent from Paypal dashboard. I'm also receiving the Paypal 'Notification of payment received ... ' emails from them for all my orders.

So any ideas why some are being received by Sytist and not others?

It must be the host blocking some and not others for some reason? I did contact them, and they said that Paypal servers are not on any of their blacklist.

Another one has been received but not converted to an order. Have contacted my host again. Is the Square integration looking likely for the next update Tim? Changing payment provider might solve this serious problem for me.

I don't know what the problem is. Did you check the IPNs for the last one that failed to create an order? Does the IPN URL look correct?

Square is integrated in Sytist already. Their new integration won't be out in the next update.

My host seems to have responded and whitelisted all those that they can find on this list in their latest response as displayed at the bottom. I'll see if that works.

Square - I believe I am right in saying that the Square payment method will be outdated pretty soon though and I want a long term payment provider change - SqPaymentForm JavaScript library will be retired on 21/07/2022

I think the IPN URL looks fine? This is one IPN that was never received (I've removed the PI as best I can)

I really have no idea. You can email me FTP info and the link to your Sytist and I will see if I can set up some logging.

Got another order yesterday that was not converted.

For those orders that have not been converted into an order by Sytist, I have so far received a few responses to my questions about how they paid and they all seem to have paid with a PayPal account rather than a credit / debit card.

Shall update further if I get any more responses, but we are going into the Easter break here in the UK.

Nobody else apart from me is getting IPN receipts from Paypal that are not creating order conversions from Sytist Paypal Smart Buttons integration?

I'm using the PayPal checkout smart buttons PayPal integration. Do you recommend changing back to the old PayPal standard business integration Tim for the time being and see if anything changes?

Remember same thing happened to me. Same PayPal smart thingy. Payment went through, received payment, received email about payment, nothing from sytist, happened to maybe 2 or 3 orders out of 15. No ryhme, no reason.

Did not know it was PayPal Checkout. I thought you were talking about Standard PayPal Business.

It's probably the PayPal checkout integration. They should have never put it out like it is. So many things had to be done just to get it to work at all so I would not be surprised there are issues. And they tell everyone its just 4 lines of code which is complete BS.

You would be better off using PayPal Standard Business which ALREADY HAS the pay later once you go to PayPal.

If you can figure out something similar in the ones that didn't create the order let me know. You can also send me admin access so I can check the error log to see if anything is there.

I had the same problem, updated .htaccess file and config.php. That did not help, but I changed my server and activated PHP 8.1. Going back to PHP 7.4 brought all the not received orders back.

Strange. I've been on PHP Version 7.4.28 for some time, and it hasn't made any difference to the lack of IPN conversions.

Sorry Sean, forgot about that post. Have you turned off paypal smart button payment method and returned to standard business Paypal Sean?

Tim, I've changed back to Paypal business standard (turning off Paypal smart buttons) and so far, touch wood, I have not had a single Paypal IPN notification that has not been converted into an order by my sytist installation. Though I haven't had many orders lately due to Easter, I think I can safely assume that it is the newer Paypal smart button Sytist integration that is causing the problems I am having with IPNs not converting to orders. My host were very good in investigating, to be honest.

The paypal Pay later credit has never appeared as an option here in the UK at all - not for the newer smart buttons or older Paypal business standard integration. It's not something that I desperately need to be honest.

I did like, however, the fact that paypal smart buttons kept customers on my site, rather than having to leave the site to go to payal.com. If you can investigate what is required to keep up to date with the new security requirements for Square API, I would convert straight away and leave Paypal in the rear view mirror. Does the current Square integration keep users on my site?

Thanks Tim

I haven't changed yet, because like you closed in your statement, I like the fact my clients stay ON my webpage, so I've just been keeping an eye on any orders/payments that may not come across, since for me it is a small percentage.

I ended up switching back to the standard haha. Too many not converting and always having to keep an eye on incoming orders was becoming too much. Grrr haha

Did update 4.1 address any of the problems that a few of us are facing with Paypal Smart buttons Tim?

No. I have been unable to duplicate any issues so I don't know what to look for.
