I'm setting up my first gallery that offers Free Downloads.
Do I need to add each client to the People section before they will be able to download photos?
Do they need to create an account to be able to view the gallery and download the photos?
Sorry for the noob questions...just trying to set up the gallery correctly.
In this instance, I have created team and individual photos for a soccer team, and I want the parents to be able to view the gallery and download the images for free (my son's team...no charge for this one). How do I go about doing this?
TIA

In this scenario you would just create a price list that includes a free download and assign it to the gallery.

That way you don't have to assign customers to free downloads and anyone visiting the gallery can download for free.
There is an option when editing the free download product in Photo Products -> Product Base to whether or not the customer has to be logged into an account for free downloads.

That's perfect for this instance.
The next time I do this, I'll want to have them log in so I can keep track of emails from those who are entering the gallery. In that case, will I need to assign People from the registered accounts, or will anyone who logs in, and who has the gallery password, still be able to view and download?
Is the assigning People a way to make sure ONLY those people can see/download from the gallery?
For example, if I send a gallery to the client, and they share it with the grandparents, who use the password to enter the gallery, and creates their own log in...will the grandparents be able to view/download from the gallery too?
I guess I'm just not 100% certain what assigning People to the gallery does.

Only when you only want certain people to be able to download for free from the gallery you would assigned them to free downloads to the gallery.
Otherwise just use a price list that has a free download assigned to it.
If you want them to have to create an account or be logged into their to download for free you will select that option when editing the free download product.
