Unexpected Cron Mailout

Today I received a 'gallery expiring' email from my site, which is normally ok - but:
a) it is 4 months ahead of the gallery expiration date
b) it is not the email I've selected to go out when the gallery expires.
I have reviewed the settings and the email that was sent is one that currently is disabled, so I'm not sure how it got added to the CRON job.
The one unusual thing is that I advance-dated this gallery so that it would become "live" today (I created it a week ago but put the gallery date for today). I'm really unclear why that would trigger an automated email though, especially one that is marked as inactive.

Which email did it send? And in Stats -> Email Logs, does it show it sent to other people or just you?

The email was sent to three people who all were listed as "People who have access to this page".
The email which was sent looks like the default "Expiring Gallery / Page" email.

I have reviewed the code and nothing is based on the gallery date, just the expiration date. In the email sent, does it show the expiration date that would be 4 months in advance or a sooner expiration date?
