Sytist Update 3.3 Now Available

In this Sytist 3.3 update I reworked most of the view photos & purchase interface.

Now on mobile, thumbnails will be displayed in 2 columns with the justified & stacked (masonry) photo display options and customers will tap the photos to view, purchase, add to favorites, share, etc... while viewing the photo. Swipe left/right or tap the arrows to navigate photos.

View detailed information about this update in the changelog here.

How to update:
The first time each day you log into the admin it will check for the update. If you have already logged into your admin today, then you won't get the notice until tomorrow.

If you are currently using Sytist version 1.0.0 or higher, you can have it check for the update again by clicking on Settings in the main menu. Then scroll down and below the left menu, click MySQL query. Copy the following line of code, paste it in the query box and click run.

UPDATE ms_history SET upgrade_check='';

Then return to your admin home page.

If the auto update feature won't work for you for some reason, you will have to manually update.

When using the auto update from the admin and it seems to hang when trying to unzip, then the ZIP functions are probably not enabled in the PHP on your hosting. If it used to work then your host probably changed something to cause the ZIP functions in PHP to go away. You can contact your hosting company and ask them to enable the ZIP functions in PHP.

Hi Tim, I'm not getting the magnifying glass; instead, it is loading the full size version of the file. Is there a setting somewhere to activate the magnifying glass? Thanks!

That is a stock photo section. The change with the magnifying glass is in the client /event galleries.

The magnifying glass works when large photo is selected in the setup. If small photo is selected in set up there is no magnifying glass but another image is displayed. But no magnifying glass.

Thanks - I’m still missing something; I don’t have the magnifying glass in regular galleries, either. Here’s an example:
https://gallery.jimwhitesell.com/clients/example-staff-headshot-gallery/#photo=c15625aff40526738a348d90a6e70cbe

Perhaps I’ve missed where to set the size to use when clicking a picture. The only place I’ve found is in a gallery setup options, under photos-photo display settings-Photo size to use. I have small and large as choices, and I’ve set it to large.

Is there another setting somewhere else that will trigger the magnifying glass?

Tim, would you consider adding the magnifying glass to all sections? It makes sense to me to have it consistent throughout a site. It’s a great feature.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim

I just clicked on your link to check it out and I get the magnifying glass. Here is what I did. While on my iPad I click the link and got the image of the lady. Then I touched the image which “loads the single image”. Now I put my finger on the image and move around and I get the magnification. It seems like to works like Tim’s test worked a couple of weeks ago. Please note I tried this on my iPad and not my computer.

Hope this helps...

Tim- LOVE LOVE LOVE this update. This greatly improve the shopping experience! More logical and visual. I think my customers are going to be less confused overall especially when it comes to mobile users which is 70% of my clients.

It is working for me too. See attached.

Maybe you have a really big screen. How it works is when the photo is larger than the viewing area (where it has to get shrunk down to view it), then the magnifying glass is available. So if your screen is huge and the photo is actually being displayed at it's largest dimensions, then it won't show.

Thanks Scott, I'm hoping it makes it easier for people on mobile.

Hi Tim,

Had a few issues with the update and thought I'd put this here for you and your customers info.

Issue: Changes were saved but CSS/Theme not loading after update.
Resolved by duplicating theme and using a theme with a new name, may work by changing themes back and forth as well.

Issue: Cart not displaying in sub-galleries. Default price list was marked correctly but sub-galleries were behaving as if set to ‘Not for sale’,
Resolved: Switched default price list to another and then back

Cheers

I am trying to do the manual update, but I cannot find where to download the complete package so I can get the update.. I have tried doing the auto update on Safari and Chrome, it hangs on the unzip...

I solved my issue with the update.. I upgraded my PHP version in CPanel on my web hosting account... I forgot to check the Zip button, once I did that and saved it, the auto update worked flawlessly...
