Email/text From The "people" Tab

When I select the People tab in a gallery and click "Send Email/Text" I see the people registered for that site and it show me the how many have emails and how many text message numbers. I select 'Email it' and also select 'Send Via Text Message'. Under Text message option I see a blank box for Phone number. 

Question is do I have to add the phone number or would this be for addition numbers? Right now I'm not getting any emails or texts. I can manually send a text but no emails are going out from anywhere on my site. Attached is an image from the manual 

The text phone number field is for additional phone numbers to the ones that are already selected.

This can happen if you have enable Automated Emails but the cron job on the server to make it work is not set up correctly or not working. You can go to Settings -> Automated Emails and it will show if there are pending emails. If so then this is the issue. You will either need to disable automated emails or set up the cron job on the server correctly.
