Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

I Have Deleted A Gallery With Sub-galleries By Mistake - Please Help!

For years I have been publishing photos for a dance studio for kids (pictures of their performances arranged in several sub-galleries). There was a root-gallery and in this gallery I had a sub-gallery for every year and in the "yearly galleries" I had several sub-galleries with the pictures of each performance). The customers knew the link to this gallery.

Yesterday I have deleted this root-gallery (and as a result all sub-galleries) by mistake in the photocart admin panel (I originally wanted to delete a completely different gallery but I made a mistake and selected the root-gallery of the dance studio.) Hundreds of pictures were deleted within seconds :-(

So I decided to have my webspace restored by my hoster. But now, after restoring my complete webspace, the deleted gallery (and all sub-galleries) are not showing up in the photocart admin panel. And when I try to access the gallery with the link as before there is an error meaning: "Error: The gallery has expired or been removed." This is the link my customers and I used before deleting the gallery --> http://www.peterhofmann.at/photocart/index.php?do=photocart&viewGallery=10273

But I can see the gallery in Filezilla. You can see a screen shot of my filezilla-screen with the restored gallery 10273 (see "img 0001.jpg")

What could be wrong? What can I do to have my gallery 10273 back for my customers and have it back in my photocart admin?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Peter

Sounds like you need to have your host restore a database backup too.

Hi Tim!

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I made a backup of my SQL-database on April 12th, 2016 from the photocart menu "Database Backup" (peterhofmannatdb42016-04-12-17-12-53.sql). Can I use this backup in some way? How can I restore this database in photocart?

But there would be another problem. A customer has put 142 pictures in the meantime (on April 26th, 2016) in the Cart from my (yesterday) deleted gallery. But as the gallery was deleted, in the cart there is only a message "Image no longer exists. Please remove." So there is no possibility for me to see which pictures he wants to order (there ist no thumbnail or picture-number of the ordered pictures mentioned in the cart any longer). Are the picture-numbers saved in any other place or can I obtain them elsewhere or are they lost forever?

You should check first and see if your host can backup a more recent backup of the database.

Because the gallery was deleted, the photo ID was deleted so there is no way to reference the delete photo and get the file name.

Ok, I?ll try to get a more recent backup with my host.

"... no way to reference the delete photo and get the file name" .... arghhhh ... that hurts :-( .... so I have to ask my customer to select the photos again after restoring the database. Very sad.

In the future I?ll think tree times before deleting a Gallery :-)

Thank you very much for your help so far!
