Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

I uploaded all files via FTP. I also did the database import via Mysql. Now when I try to go to my website, I'm getting this error:

MYSQL ERROR: Unknown column 'icon_set' in 'field list'

Query: SELECT icon_set FROM WHERE style_id='9'

Does anyone know what this means, or how I can fix it?

Thanks so much!

Are you using the very same version of Photo Cart as was exported from the old host? That missing column (icon_set) was added as part of version 7.0.4 so it sounds like the database you exported from the old host was from a version prior to 7.0.4 but the version of Photo Cart on the new host is 7.0.4 or newer. To fix it, you should use the very same version of Photo Cart on the new host as was exported from the old host. Once that is operational THEN you can upgrade the new host to the latest Photo Cart version.

Okay, so for this would I just need to upload the old photocart files via FTP, and leave the database as is? I did upload the new photocart files, and the database I imported was from the old Photocart version, so I'm thinking this is the problem, you are correct! Thanks!

Yes, just upload the OLD Photo Cart files which should just work with the database you already imported. Once that version of Photo Cart works, then you can follow the Photo Cart upgrade instructions to update both Photo Cart and the database.

Okay, so I did this and now I'm getting this error:

Unable to connect to the databaseCan't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Any ideas?

Sounds like your $setup['pc_db_location'] variable in setup.php is in error. This must be set to the host name of where your MySQL server runs; most providers use localhost but some do not. Your hosting provider should have a FAQ or other documentation on how to configure MySQL database connections which would indicate the host name of your MySQl server.
