Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

Ugrade To Php 7.0

I needed to upgrade to PHP v7.0 because of some other software and hardware I purchased. Installation went fine. I check to see if PHP was installed properly (PHP info), all is good. However, now PhotoCart stopped working, all I can see is blank pages, nothing else. The original version (5.6) worked fine. What do I need to do to make PhotoCart work with version 7.0? I currently have PhotoCart version 7.1.

I don't think it is going to work on PHP 7. I have not had a chance to test anything on that version and I believe the mysql_* functions have been removed and replaced with mysqli_* functions in PHP 7. So you would need to use PHP 5.6.

If I migrated to Sytist would I have the same problems? Could I use PHP v7.0? Can I customize the code as in PhotoCart?

I don't believe Sytist is ready for PHP 7.0 yet. I plan on looking into this version of PHP this month because I really don't know right now.

Hey Tim - I'm in the same boat, needing to upgrade to PHP 7. Have you had some time to look into what we need to transition from older PHP versions so that Photo Cart 7.1.0 can work with PHP 7?

Just wanted to check back since it's been over a month since the last update. Appreciate your help.

No I have not looked into PHP7 for Photo Cart. I know Photo Cart will not work with PHP7 because of the MySQL_ functions removal. Don't know if I will do anything with it at this time. Best to stay on PHP 5.*

Hi Tim

It looks like this thread has not been updated in quite a while. I need to upgrade to Version 7 as per the instructions above and just wanted to make sure that this is still accurate info before doing so. My server is now running version 7.4 and must do for other software I have running there.

Can you please confirm that the instructions above are still relevant.

Thanks

Craig

I don't know what instructions you are referring to but Photo Cart is not compatible with PHP 7.

Hi Tim,

I think I see where I was making an error.

Above the portion in red, you mention PhotoCart 7 upgrade files, I had PHP 7 on my brain and made the assumption that was what was meant, when really it was just version 7 of the cart itself.

As a result of my other software on the same domain being on PHP 7.4 now, I am unable to access PhotoCart.

However, I also own the ".au" only version of my domain. So I was thinking I would move PhotoCart there, as I am able to change that domain to PHP 5.6.

Would you be able to tell me what I need to do fo this to work?

Thanks
Craig

Move (drag) your Photo Cart folder into .au domain folder through FTP or the file manafer.
