Grouping Pages Created As Galleries

I have about 16 gallery pages.
Ideally I would like to put them into sub-categories in the menu system, rather than all 16 showing as menu items.
ie
Galleries>pets>[5 pages of pets]
Galleries>Schools> [5 pages of school images]
Galleries>events>[6 pages of events]
How easy is this to achieve now that those 16 pages are already created?

as I know it is not possible, and many times I have wished I could.
often in the rush to load subfolders in real time during sport events, I mistake the folder structure and I have to delete and reload everything instead of moving to.
it would be a nice upgrade to have this feature

I have placed my galleries in sub-categories.
The sub-galleries appear on the galleries page correctly, but I do not wish to see each individual gallery listed on the same page underneath.
Is there a way to avoid this?
