Today I've had two customers contact me with the same problem.
They place an order and pay with paypal. BUT paypal does not direct back to sytist and the order does not complete. Customer can see a 'preauth' on their bank account. On my end, the order is still in the customers shopping cart, unpaid.
Any ideas?

I've had a look here and still having lots of problems. I'm getting 5-10 emails/day with customers not able to check out.
I'm not able to check the IPN status - the link takes me to a page that says:
Instant Payment Notification (IPN) history
No IPN messages were found for the past 24 hours.
The IPN feature is turned off. You must turn on IPN in order to create history data.
When I click the link to turn IPN on it takes me to a 404 error page.

If you are using the PayPal Checkout you should perhaps change back to the PayPal standard as it is more reliable. Then PayPal standard will be shown in the IPN which DOES NOT and SHOULD NOT have to be set to ON.
