Site Running Slow And Hanging Up

I'm about to unleash a wrath upon Hostgator. I got in this morning and my site was suddenly hanging on pages and not loading, and if i opened it up in another tab it may or may not work but the first tab would just hang there. My site is a little slow and I know some of that is because we use higher quality images on the site instead of optimized ones but hey it's photography and we want quality and ok with a little speed hit. Todays issues were different than that.

I need any opinions on what I can do to resolve this issue. if anyone or Tim maybe has time to look at my site or has come across this issue.

Hostgator is blaming my developer and says they need to optimize my site but like I said today's issue has not presented itself before and I've been using Sytist for years.

Thanks to anyone that can help

Changing over to Saratoga web hosting + using Amazon S3 for images will resolve your issue!

Thanks I will look into it. Can you tell me your experience with amazon S3? I don't know how it works but to explain a little of what we do, I have santa in my studio and we have to upload a large amount of images to galleries each day to client galleries and they purchase them through the website. Can S3 handle high speed uploading? And do you know how the pricing works? do i get charged for the bandwidth or the amount stored? If I am deleting the galleries daily does that make a difference in the pricing?

Thanks

Are you a representative of saratoga hosting? I will send them an email to get more info. if not what is your experience with them and using sytist on it? I see they specifically offer sytist assistance

I pay $12 month for saratoga hosting.
I pay about $3-5 per month to Amazon S3.
I have 90,000 images on S3.
You can link to S3 in Sytist.
The image upload is the same as if you are uploading to Sytist. Seamless.
If you have many images online now. I would first create an S3 account and go ahead and move your files to S3. that will make it much easier to more the main site to Saratoga. If you have many images already, You could set it to upload in your downtime or overnight.

And

I do not work for Saratoga. Just use them.

Dave at Saratoga will make the hosting change seamless for you.

This is Not a paid endorsement. I use the above and it works well!

Dave will exceed your expectations. He has mine and many others!

Thanks, Yes I have a lot of images already so I'm not sure how I would move them off of the site. does S3 upload quickly or at least quicker than it does to a hosting account? I am working on deleting images but there is an issue with that within sytist. I cannot delete images from the all photos section. I delete them and when I go back they are still there. The galleries they belong to are no longer in my system so I cannot delete them that way and when I delete them from my cpanel file explorer they delete from there but when I go to the all photos section i have en entire list of broken links that I cannot delete from sytist.

Tim, I am a commercial photographer. My client galleries are hidden from public view due privacy concerns.
That said, you can see my website at commercialindustrialphotographer.com
All 90,000 images I have on S3 are only the high res files.
The images on my public side of the website are on S3 too.

As for moving images to S3, in Sytist, you will see a link where your galleries are that will automatically move the images from your server to S3. I would test it first with a couple images, to ensure S3 is set up properly.

The main reason to use S3 is to save money. S3 is behind the scenes. On the front end, clients only see your website URL.
Most web hosts will host large amounts of images with a hosting plan but that costs lots of money, and many times will require a dedicated server.
I am saving over $140 per month using S3.

Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't ask you to share client galleries. We also have all our clients images in private galleries. I just wanted to see how well your site loaded considering you host the images with S3.

I am going to do some research and see if at minimum I can switch to S3 to help speed things up and keep my site moving the way it should.

Thanks again for you help

Tim, if you want to talk about how its done, send me a text to from the number on my website. I'll call you. It's a simple process to set up the S3.
