High Res Downloads

What's the best way to go about offering high resolution downloads of full galleries for clients? I've been using Pixieset, but I was hopeful Stytist would replace it entirely. Right now, my client would have to download 10 zip files to get their full gallery. I want it to be a one click deal for them. Is this possible? Thank you!!

Tim will be better able to answer this, but there is always a limit on how many downloads that can be downloaded in a zip folder. This is not necessarily due to sytist, but has to do with how much resources are used on your server I.E. memory, speed, size of file, ETC.. You will end up with many problems with large downloads. Although i do not know what your idea of "Hi res" is, but my files are about 50 MB each but i do not upload near that, if i did each night i shoot i would be uploading 20 gigs. You may want to consider offering a flash drive/stick, a 15 Gig drive can be had for under $10.00, just a thought.

Thanks for your feedback Vance! That's where I think I'm headed - with the flash drives. But I wondered if using the Amazon s3 would alleviate the issues?

S3 only helps with storage, all other process are handled by your server. So first a transfer happens from S3 then the process starts to produce your zip folder.

Ok, that makes so much sense. =) These are the time I wish I had a tech guru! Thanks again for your input.

Oh really? I too have moved from Pixieset and my galleries are as large as yours and never had a problem with people downloading 60-ish images at once ( I shrink mine via jpgmini prior to upload so they are all of manageable size )

I am just uploading my first gallery for sale .. hoping there is an override too if this is true?

Laura - I just set my downloads to 100 under Photo Settings, hopefully that will work - wont know until I test it I guess :)

There are a lot of factors on how many photos the server will be able to put into a zip file. The speed of the server, memory, size of the photos, if the photos are also getting processed, etc... You might be able to get up to 100 in a zip file, but you would have to test it out to make sure.

If the customer is automatically getting all the photos (not having to purchase them), you could zip them up on your computer, upload the zip file to the server or somewhere like S3, then make a link to that zip file in the description of the gallery.

Hi Leanne, Curious how you like JPEGmini... And if it's really working for your larger galleries to not have multiple zip files. Of course, I suspect our different servers could make a huge difference as well?
Thanks for the info, Tim. I will try that!
