I just submitted a sitemap to google and I got an email saying that the "submitted URL not found 404" for 6 pages. The URL's its referring to did exist at one point on my site as separate sections (more than a year ago) but I moved them into one section called "portfolio". The sitemap is showing the correct URL's as well but I'm not sure why it's showing the ones that don't exist or how to get rid of them. For instance the site map is showing https://www.jaimejohnsonphotogrpahy.com/maternity (the old one that doesn't exist anymore) AND https://www.jaimejohnsonphotography.com/portfolio/maternity
How do I get rid of the old one?
Thanks :)

Every time you create or edit a page/gallery, the sitemap gets updated. So maybe you have deleted that category and have not since updated a page or gallery (edited and saved changed). Or the category exists in the database, but the folder was deleted from the server for some reason?
Try editing any page like the home page in the admin and just click save and see if it gets updated.

I just made a small change to the home page and saved it but the sitemap is still showing the old gallery links.

When I look in Filezilla, in public_html I see a folder called "galleries", which was where I used to have my galleries, but I moved them to different categories and deleted the "galleries" category. Filezilla is saying that folder was last modified in September of 2017, when I was first setting up my Sytist site. The "galleries" category is no longer in my category list in my admin. So, not sure why it's still on my server. Can I just delete it off my server through Filezilla? There is nothing in that folder that I use anywhere on my website.

You can delete the galleries folder.
looking at your sitemap, it looks like those are actually top level pages and not categories. If they have been deleted, they shouldn't be there. It pulls that info from the database and not from the files on the server so for them to get into the sitemap they must be in the database somewhere (unless the sitemap isn't getting created).
If you go to Site Content -> Top Level Pages, do you see those pages there?

You will need to email me FTP or hosting control panel access (username and password) ... not your Sytist login, so I can look into it. Might be a permission issue on the server/host so the sitemap isn't getting updated.

Those pages were part of a category that was deleted. I don't know how because there is not a delete option for a category / section when it has content in it. In any case, I have deleted those pages and they are gone from the sitemap.
