Problems Running In Local

Hello,
to make some testing , I downloaded the whole site and the db, uploaded it to the local server and imported the database.
I placed it in a sub folder and I changed the sy-config.php file accordingly.
I can see all the pages on the frontend ,created previously, apart photos that I did not upload.
I can access my admin page and create pages, categories and galleries, that are shown in admin.
But if I hit the "view" tab in the admin to look at one of the category I just created I get a 404 error message :
"The requested URL /xxxxxxx/xxxxxxx/ was not found on this server.
If I try to upload, via the uploader some photos to a gallery, the process runs smoothly,but I can see only some image placeholders in the admin and again the error 404 on the frontend.
The local server is running with Ubuntu.
This is not a big problem,I just wanted to do some testing before transferring them live if it is something that can be sorted out easily OK,otherwise I will leave it, having seen that I'm non a programmer.
Thanks in advance
Marco

My guess is that in the sy-config.php file for the $setup['temp_url_folder'] you didn't add the slash.
Should be like
$setup['temp_url_folder'] = "/folder-name";

Hello Tim,
the slash is there I really don't understand why happens this, only with the creation of new content

This is the address bar
http://192.168.1.3/concorsi/events/livorno/
and this is what it should be.
Sytist is in the folder Concorsi, Events is a Section and both they were created online and I can see the on the frontend.But Livorno,that is a new gallery's not shown with a 404 error, while I can see it the admin
Here is my sy-config.php
$setup['path']= dirname(__FILE__);
$setup['url'] = "http://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']."";
$setup['pc_db_location'] = "localhost";
$setup['pc_db'] = "concorsi";
$setup['pc_db_user'] = "xxxxxx";
$setup['pc_db_pass'] = "xxxxxxx";
$setup['manage_folder'] = "xxxxxx";
$setup['inc_folder'] = "sy-inc";
$setup['graphics_folder'] = "sy-graphics";
$setup['misc_folder'] = "sy-misc";
$setup['photos_upload_folder'] = "sy-photos";
$setup['layouts_folder'] = "sy-layouts";
$setup['tags_folder'] = "tags";
$setup['downloads_folder'] = "sy-downloads";
$setup['temp_url_folder'] = "/concorsi";

ini_set('memory_limit', '512M');
ini_set('upload_max_filesize', '30M');
ini_set('post_max_size', '30M');
//ini_set('log_errors', 'on');
//ini_set('error_log', $setup['path']."/errors.txt");
// If you need to make adjustments to this file do so below this line before the closing PHP tag.
I just hided ID and PWD and opening and closing tag
Line 24-25 were cancelled, I read a thread of someone not able to login the admin, username and pwd not recognized after a server moving , (this was happening to me) and you suggested to cancel those two lines.In face after that I was able to login in the admin

Sounds like a permissions issue where the folders & file are not writable with default permissions.
Try changing the permissions of the folder Sytist is installed in and all the files and folders inside it to 777 ... may be called CHMOD, permissions or properties. Or find a way to have them writable with default permissions. I use XAMPP and don't have any issues with permissions.

Hello Tim,
the 777 option did not worked , so far I'll drop it because I'm busy with something else this week.
I suppose (I go for exclusion) that when I import and unzip in in the directory on the server using webmin,I flagged that the directory was belonging to root,insted of the user of the db,but ok I'm just trying to approach it with a "chemist" point of view trying to use the thoughts having seen that I have not the knowledge.
I will try again after th 11th.
Thanks
Marco
