Multiple Ftp Accounts

Probably not something that would matter to most...
I have multiple event photographers (currently 7), it would be convenient to have a separate ftp upload account for each of them.
Currently, I have made regular ftp accounts for them and then I move the uploads into /sy-upload/ via my server's command line.   It works but required additional steps.

Ftp accounts are a function of your hosting control panel.

You can have multiple ftp accounts, each with unique passwords and separate access to the sy-upload folder or sub folders within.  Easily activated and deactivated too. That's what we do anyway.

Hey Trailboy, thanks for the reply!   That's what I've done... except their folders are at the account's root /theirname/, not to the /sy-upload/ folder.

I could make sub-folders for them in the sy-upload.   Don't you still have to go in and change ownership to the photo program so it can process them? Or doesn't it care as long as it can access & delete after processing...?

Do not give an enduser / uploader direct and full access to the root folder, that is asking for trouble.

Use your control panel to set up unique ftp accounts that only have access to their dedicated and pre-created folder, e.g. ../sy-upload/enduser01/ .  They then upload via their ftp program, e.g. filezilla.  They should have no access to any other folder on the system.  You can activate / deactivate these unique ftp account easily in your hosting control panel and should for your security / peace of mind.

You will still need to process them to a gallery yourself as only you have full access to your sytist admin panel, but you wouldn't want endusers having full access anyway.  If you cannot dedicate the time, you can preset a watch folder to automatically populate a gallery from a given subfolder (I think anyway).

Yeah, OK, I can change their upload folder locations -  Ultimately my goal was to have my photographers publish their own photos.  Just a potential future suggestion that I should have been more clear about.   Thank you, I appreciate the responses!
