Multi Select Not Working

multi select not working
if I want to select multiple photos, I select the first one, then go to the last one and select it by holding down the CTRL key.
the above works if I select few photos, 10-20 but if I select 50-100 etc it doesn't work

I wrote wrong "ctrl" but it wanted to be "upper case" the substance does not change, it does not work for me to you???
