Deleting From All Photos

Hi Tim.

I have been in conversation with my hosting rep, and my cpanel is using approx 90%.
Obviously I need to get in and delete photos from ALL PHOTOS to free up space.
Is there anyway to do this that is not so time consuming ?
Can I delete years if I so choose ?

I need images pre2023 all gone to free space.
I have copies of them on 2x external drives to there is no need to access.

Steph.

Why from the all photos section?

Just delete galleries.

The all photos section are photos from your galleries and quicker and easier to delete the galleries.

You can batch delete galleries too by checking the checkbox next to the gallery list names.

Tim,

The only galleries I have live have been created in 2023.
All other galleries from 2014 to this date have been deleted.
Why are the photos from 2014 - 2022 still in ALL PHOTOS then if galleries have already been deleted ?

Either

1) In Settings -> Photo Settings you have either one or both options under "Deleting Purchased Photos" checked and those are purchased photos.

2) When  you deleted your galleries you didn't select the option to delete the photos too. If this is the case Go to the All Photos and click a thumbnail from a deleted gallery to enlarge it and look on the right side.

Click the Upload Session link.

That will show all the photos uploaded at that time.

Then you can select all and delete all the photos in that upload session which will most likely be all the photos that were in a certain gallery.

Tim thanks for your options.

1.   is there anyway to delete from ALL PHOTOS quicker.  I have 17,000 photos so as you can imagine deleting gallery by gallery is going to take quite some time.

2.  can you delete ALL images in ALL PHOTOS ?  I would rather spend the time recreating the 17 galleries and reloading those photos, instead of deleting all the galleries right back to 2014 (time productivity).

3.  Lastly, while I wait for your response I am selecting photos that were uploaded singularly, and deleting.  When I reenter ALL PHOTOS they are still there all checked again.  I delete and once again they reappear all checked.  Its like they aren't deleting.  (Now its doing the same thing to galleries !).  Ill select all, delete and tray, and they are still in ALL PHOTOS checked.

If they are not deleting then: 1) In Settings -> Photo Settings you have either one or both options under "Deleting Purchased Photos" checked and those are purchased photos.

You can select multiple photos at a time:
https://www.picturespro.com/sytist-manual/articles/selecting-multiple-photos/

If you really want to delete EVERY SINGLE PHOTO you can do the following:

Settings in the main menu. Then UNDERNEATH the left menu click MySQL query.

Copy the following line, paste it in the query box and click run :

UPDATE ms_photos SET pic_delete='1';

Then click Settings in the main menu, leave the tab open for the delete queue to run .

Again, this will delete EVERY SINGLE PHOTO IN THE SYSTEM.

could you selectively delete the old years, via ftp inside the sy-photo folder, or better move them to an external hdd? Right?

it is probable that by the end of the year I too will have to free up some space in the hosting and I was thinking of using this method

If you delete from the sy-photos table you leave a lot of broken data in the database. I would advice not doing that.
