Send Email Stopped Working

Sytist will not "Send email to notify photos are ready to download". This has been working just fine for a very long time and then it stopped working yesterday.
I have verified that I successfully get test emails when I use either PHP mail() function or the SMTP PHPMailer option.
When I'm in an order, I click on Manage Photos and then the hyperlink to "Send email to notify...". The dialogue box opens for the message details. I check the appropriate boxes and then hit Send Message. Then it just stays in a "SENDING..." state indefinitely.
I checked the Email Logs in Stats and none of these messages are sent so it does not seem to be a server issue.
Any other suggestions?

Sounds like your cron job ( a server function) has stopped working and now the automated emails are not working. If you go to Settings -> Automated Messages you will probably find a lot of pending emails to send.
Get with your host on fixing the cron job.

Cron job is working OK. No pending emails and I get test emails just fine. Still can't get order email to send.

Then what you are doing it probably triggering mod security on the server, returning a 403 server error, and stopping it from actually sending the emails.
You will need to get with your host and have them look into the mod security and whitelist the rule it is truggering.
