People Creating Two Accounts

I'm having issues with people creating two accounts, the email and phone number and name are all exactly the same on both accounts.

I can't replicate it on my end as its telling me that an account already exists with this email but I have a client with two accounts on the system.

What do I need to do to stop this happening, its confusing for them when it comes to go and select images for their preorders.

Is there a way to combine the two accounts?

I had that problem when i allowed facebook login, so i discontinued facebook login. If facebook login is not being used look very closely at the email given, there could be the smallest thing like an uppercase letter. If you go to each account it will tell you the IP address used. I am sure Tim will have further insight on this.

The system won't allow for them to create 2 accounts so I don't know why.

You can email me the following so I can take a look into it:

1) Link to your Sytist admin.

2) The admin username and password (or create me an admin account by clicking Admins in the upper right corner of the admin pages).

3) 2 customer email addresses that created multiple accounts.

I just posted a similar question because internally we just accidentally created a second account for the same customer but we've had this problem on occasion too where we have already created an account for a customer and then they create another account with the same email address. This is rare but has definitely happened on a number of occasions.

This brings up another question...we don't want people to be able to create their own accounts at all. Is there a setting where we can turn this off?

Thank you

There is no way to disable the ability of people creating their own accounts.

This still happens. Clients creating new accounts with the same email address.  Like Angie Duncan says, I can't replicate the behavior but we definitely have several clients that create their own account again.

Could this be because we create the first account for them on our end? Perhaps new accounts with the same email address can be created if done from a different I.P. address.

Seems to be happening when the admin creates the account and the email address includes a space before the email address. Will be resolved in the next update.

Thanks Tim...that would be a big help. Could it also be the visa versa...that the client includes a space?

It already does that.
