Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

Thumbnails display ok in galleries, but no image loads when thumbnail is clicked. It just sits there with the loading bar going back and forth. Also there is a magnifying glass that you can hold the mouse over to view a larger image of the photo, the image holder flies in but the image does not display. This was working before. I am using Photocart 7.1.0, PHP 5.5.14. http://photocart.brianbacklandphotography.com/photocart/

Just noticed the Error Log link at the bottom of the admin page, here is an entry the seems to occur when an image is clicked:
[30-Jan-2015 23:08:16 America/Toronto] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagecreatefrompng() in /Library/WebServer/BBPhoto/photocart/image.php on line 140
All of my images are jpg's not png's...

Hmmm. My watermarking uses a png file... Turned off Watermarking and it works fine. A recent update to the iMac where this cart is running must have caused the issue. I'll have to figure out which image library I need to update to fix it...

Amazing how you can sometimes fix these issues yourself :).. Ok so a little research, it seems when a OS X update occurs on a Mac that includes PHP, the PHP does not include png support. Running the following command from the command line as root on your Mac fixes the issue.
curl -s http://php-osx.liip.ch/install.sh | bash -s 5.6

Mine is working fine once again.

Sorry to bother you Tim.
