Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

My logs show that I have sent several emails to a client but the client is saying they haven't received any of them. They have checked and double checked their folders...even their junk folders. What can I do on my end to make sure the emails are going thru???

I'm getting the same problem Jennie! It's only just started doing it as far as I can see and it's not happening to every client. A short term fix is to go into the client's file on photocart, select 'sent email' and then copy and paste the email into a normal email and send. My client's have managed to then complete their registrations. If you click on 'customer', 'list customers' and and then sort by register date it will show a red box next to all the clients who haven't completed their registration or haven't perhaps received their email! It's a nightmare. Hopefully someone can suggest a solution. :(

Hi Jennie,

I think I may have resolved the problem.

Go to 'Settings' then 'mail settings'.

Send all emails FROM your email address?
Some hosts require emails be sent from your email address at your domain name. If this is your case, select yes here. There are a few emails that are "From" your customers' email addresses. (set to YES)

Add return path field
With the PHP mail() function sometimes the return path of an email is set to a server address and not yours so you do not receive bounced emails. But this option is here incase the addition of the return path parameter causing problems with emails sending. Set to Yes unless you are having problems with emails going out. (set to NO)

Then submit. I have just sent myself a test email and it came through fine. I then set up a new account for my husband and his email also came through.

If you want to confirm your client's account without having to copy and paste the registration email you can confirm it for them. Click on 'customer' , 'list customers' and locate their account (should have a red square next to it). Click on their email address to open the account. Then under the drop down 'More' click on 'edit' you can then change the status to 'confirmed - can log in' and save.

You can also change the way customers view and register by going to 'Settings' and then 'Customer Registration':

Add to cart & view gallery restriction
[a] Can add to cart & view images without logging in
[b] Must be logged in to add to cart but not to view images
[c] Must be logged in to add to cart AND view images (see next option)
This sets if the customers has to be logged in to add to cart or view images.

You can also change some of the other settings aswell. Mine was set to [c] but I have now changed it to [b] just so hopefully I won't lose customers before they have even been able to view the photos because they registration has been an ordeal!

I hope that helps :)

Katie
