Attention
If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.
You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.
Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.
Photo Cart Only For Wordpress?
I cannot remember, can Photo Cart be used on other types of website templates? I have a REALLY hard time working in WordPress and have spent HOURS trying to build my website, but I just can't get it to do what I want. (I've tried several templates, including paid templates) And, forgive me if I'm not asking this question correctly. Basically I want to get away from WordPress and want to know if it's possible to integrate Photo Cart in whatever builder? I can find.
Would LOVE recommendations too!
I'm looking for just a plain, clean site. Landing page can either be static or slideshow. Then have individual galleries that are slideshows with thumbnails below. Each gallery plays it's own music. Something similar to this site http://www.wphotography.com/index2.php?v=v1#!/3/Engagement/86
TIA!

It probably won't work on like a hosted website service like wix or something. Just check with whichever way you go to see if it can be installed on their services.

I use wordpress (actually, I just use default theme twenty-thirteen since it's a clean responsive theme). Photocart isn't "integrated" meaning it basically takes the user to a whole new site (just photo cart) with just a custom header and footer that link back to my wordpress pages... so the user is basically switching between the two sites. They don't even look anything alike and nobody cares.
I am an event photographer and 99.9% of my traffic is potential customers looking to buy an image off my site. I'm not selling myself like a photographer that is hired. So I set up my webserver to automatically go to the photo cart main page. Then if someone is interested in the "other stuff" they can click the links. It's a bit goofy since it's a double menu" but it works just fine. Keep in mind I have done some visual customizations to my photo cart, so it's not going to look 100% stock, but the functionality is the same.
