Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

All Of A Sudden My Photo Cart Pages Are Blank Or Getting A Fatal Error

If your Photo Cart pages are all suddenly blank Or you are getting the error message "Fatal error: Cannot re-assign auto-global variable _REQUEST in XXXXXXX" , your hosting company has upgraded the PHP version on the server to version 5.4 or higher and you are not running the most recent version of Photo Cart (7.1.0).

To fix this error you need to either upgrade to Photo Cart 7.1.0 or have your host downgrade the PHP to 5.3 or lower.

Here is information on upgrading to the most recent version of Photo Cart (7.1.0):
http://www.picturespro.com/photo-cart/upgrade/

If you can't find your Photo Cart registration key to download the upgrade files, you can use "tim" (without the quotes) as the registration key to download the upgrade files.

If you need the upgrade installation service, you can get it here.

Tim,
I have the latest Photocart 7.1.0, but PHP 4.2 (hostmonster) is still causing issues. For example, the thumbnails in client gallery view are not showing up! Switching back to PHP 4.2 fixes this, but hostmonster plans to phase this out soon. Can you please advise of a fix at your first opportunity?

thanks!

In Settings > Gallery & Image layout, change "Select function to display thumbnails" to standard and save. That should fix it.

I need to upgrade my photocart, but because my current version is completely non-functional, I'm not sure which set of instructions to follow. If I access my files via FTP, is there a way to figure out what version I currently have?
Thanks :)

You can follow instructions for upgrading from version 4.1 and if you are actually on version 5 or higher, it will tell you when you go to the upgrade.php page.

I'm suddenly getting this error. I am resizing to the same size I always have. What is causing this?

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 104857600 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4800 bytes) in /home/content/78/7580978/html/gallery/admin/ftp_process.php on line 409

UPDATE: I have done the upgrade to 7.1.0 or whatever the most recent one is. I was at 7.0 prior to that. - Still not working. :0(

Hi Tim,

We have a new PHP version out, and my host will not allow anyone to stay on the old one. Unfortunately, this upgrade has caused this error: "Strict Standards: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead in /homepages/33/d283060682/htdocs/Proofbook/admin/admin.footer.php on line 22"

What do I do now?

Thanks!

Also, on B&W/Coloring Options page, I get this error: "Fatal error: Cannot re-assign auto-global variable _REQUEST in /homepages/33/d283060682/htdocs/Proofbook/admin/settings/settings.color.options.php on line 20"

See this link on the error for the date warning:

Download this zip file and refer to the READ-ME file to fix the error in the color options section:

Tim, I am having this problem as well and both my admin page and the Photo Cart page from my website are blank. I've downloaded the upgrade and followed the upgrade instructions but nothing has changed. I've not yet asked the host to downgrade the PHP, but would like to try getting the upgraded version working. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you didn't upload all the upgrade files. You will need to re-upload the upgrade files.
Select ALL THE FILES & FOLDERS from inside the "photocart" folder in the zip file and upload them INTO your Photo Cart folder on your website overwriting the existing ones.

Just wondering if Photocart will work with PHP 5.5? I may need to upgrade to this version for other software about to be installed on my server.

Thanks

Ok I'm not sure if this is a PHP error (I know my hosting recently upgraded all their PHPs), but I'm getting this error message today when I go to my proofing site:

I get these on the admin side too. Tried logging in and just keep getting more error messages. I think I have PhotoCart 7 installed but like I said I can't log in so I can't see. Any idea how to fix this?

You need to contact your host with the error and it appears there is no temp directory ... or try this:

Hi Tim,

I'm having the blank page problem as well and am assuming I need to upgrade to 7.1
When I try to download the upgraded files, it asks for my registration number which you've previously said can be found on the admin page of our photocart. Unfortunately, since all of my pages are blank, I can't find the registration number. Is there a way to look up my number by my name or business name?

Hi,

I'm getting this error today. Fatal error: Cannot re-assign auto-global variable _REQUEST in /home/sarahphillips/sarahphillipsphoto.com/proofing/pc_inc/pc_functions.php on line 72

I've read several posts and it sounds like I need to upgrade. However, bc of the error I can't get into my admin panel to DL the files. Please help!

Hi Tim,

I now have and use Sytist, but needed to get into my photocart site today. I found I was unable to access it, came here and saw that I needed to upgrade, installed the upgrade (which I've done lots of times without issue), now all that is on the screen when I try to access my site is this error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in /home/caitland/public_html/clientgallery/pc_inc/functions.core.php:9 Stack trace: #0 /home/caitland/public_html/clientgallery/admin/manage.php(13): dbConnect(Array) #1 {main} thrown in /home/caitland/public_html/clientgallery/pc_inc/functions.core.php on line 9

Do you know what's causing this?

Thanks so much!

This error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()

Means the PHP on your hosting has been upgraded to PHP 7. Photo Cart is not compatible with PHP 7. So you will need to have the PHP downgraded to like PH version 5.6 or 5.4.

Ugh, ok thank you.

That is why I was upgrading...I thought it solved that.

I really don't need my photocart site anymore (since I use Sytist). Is there any way to retrieve a couple of photo orders from my ftp account or anything? I'd hate to ask them to downgrade just for those two orders I need.

Thanks for all your help!

The only way to get orders is through the photo cart admin. They aren't stored in files you can access via FTP. All the data is in the database.

I purchased the upgrade installation yesterday and received an email today that the installation was complete. However I'm still having the same problem accessing my Photocart admin. When I call up the site and login, it spins for a few seconds like its going to log me in and load, but then it just refreshes to a blank page. I can't get into my Photocart site at all.

The admin login page loaded fine, but I don't have the username and password to log into it. You can email me the admin username and password so I can take a look.

Hi Tim, My photo cart page was working earlier this week but it is now solid white. I have followed the instructions to upgrade by replacing all the items in my photo cart folder aside from the accessories. It is still white. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Most likely your hosting company has updated the PHP version (programming language) to PHP 7, which Photo Cart is not compatible with. You would need to have the PHP downgraded to 5.6.

This just happened to me yesterday. Webhost says they can not downgrade to anything other than 7.0 for php as my site was moved to a new server yesterday. I have lost all my orders and galleries. Is there anything that can be done? I am in a total panic as I had 5 orders to place and have no idea what images where ordered. Please help.
