Collection Option Isn't Working For Me.

I am adding an option to a collection. I select the dropdown option and clicked " This option will determine how many photos are to be selected for this item." I then enter 8 different items. each one should provide a different number of image selections for this collection. But I have been unable to get it to affect the collection at all when adding it to a cart. Is there a trick to making that function properly? I offer a montage and they can choose 3-9 images. I charge $40 per image. Thanks for your help!

It only works for collections set to selections only ... option when creating a collection. It won't work if you create a collection that includes other collections.
