Square Not Capturing Customer Data

Hi, Tim.

I realized when going into the Square dashboard that it's not capturing customer data when they use it to make a purchase. I needed to do a partial refund and realized it when I couldn't complete it because there was no way to send it back without so much as an email. Square has been ZERO help and stated it's not on their end, which they didn't look into since it was a 5-minute call, but since they have stopped emailing me, there's little I can do. Is this a known issue, or is it just me?

When you view the order in the admin it will show you a Transaction ID in the payment area. You should be able to find the transaction using that ID.

I have found the transaction, but there was no name, no email or any other data with it, so no refund could be issued. Nor was there on any transaction made with Square.

I have been using Square, for the past year, and that is how all of my transactions appear. You just have to match up the transaction in question by the amount, date and time as it appears on your order.
You then issue the refund, partial or full, and Square will send the customer a receipt.

If the payment was made through Square, then there must be a transaction associated with that transaction ID. I don't use square but I imagine there would be the option to refund like any other payment option.

Thomas,

Thank you for your help! I was able to make the transaction per your suggestion. The first time I tried, I could see the transaction but it wouldn't give me an option to refund. I went back in and was able to complete it using your suggestions, and Tim, the square terminal, IMO is very convoluted. It's not as straightforward as Paypal and has no names or clearcut directions on how to make transactions. Thank you again.
