Email Access To Gallery And Opt In?

Hi,
I see that I can create an email popup, and sync it with Mailchimp, I have done that. I also see that I can allow people to access galleries using their email address.
What I don't see is how to allow access to galleries using an email address, and use that as an opt in with Mailchimp, removing the need (in my case) for the popup. Possible?
It seems that using an email to access a gallery results in access only, with the email info going nowhere, unless I am missing it.

Currently there is no option for them to join the mailing list when entering in their email address to view a gallery. Something in my notes to look into.

Yeah, it seems like the perfect capture opportunity. Especially when as many as a couple of hundred people can access a gallery.
