Delete Orphaned Photos In Sy-photos Directory

I have multiple years of photos in the sy-photos directory that aren't visible from within the Sytist web application. Their galleries have been deleted long ago. How does this happen? How do I delete those photos? Do I need to delete them manually from the file system?

Thanks,

Erin

The photos are deleted from the server when galleries are deleted .... UNLESS you have deleted individual "sub-galleries" that have other sub-galleries under them prior to Sytist version 2.5.0. Maybe that is what happened?

I don't think I have ever used "sub-galleries" that have other "sub-galleries". I am not sure how it happened. Am I safe to manually delete year/month folders that are older than my oldest online gallery?

It should be fine to delete those. But if you have made any billboards (design -> billboards) or add any preview photos to categories, those may get deleted.
