Default Emails Not Respecting Chosen Date Format

I noticed today that when a 'shipping notify' email is created, it uses the US's M/D/Y date format, even if the date format in Admin Settings has been changed to the international standard D/M/Y (%e %M, %Y). I presume this occurs for the dates in other default emails too.
EG: The created email says that the shipping date is Aug 01, 2017 instead of 01 August, 2017 .
Could this be fixed up in a future update please, or is there another date setting I have missed somewhere?

Not sure why it is doing that, but will make a note to look into it.
