Problem Setting Up A Cron Job!

With my provider (1and1) I need to run the CRON job from the command line... so I've SSH'd into my hosting from my Mac (all fine logging in) but when running the command, I keep getting this error!

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting '(' in /homepages/18/d132470505/htdocs/clickandbuilds/StewartClarkePhotography/galleries/sy-admin/admin.functions.php on line 551

I've also tried using the other method you mentioned (http) and got his output... has it worked? it mean nothing to me!

Hi Tim, I'm very much struggling with this... as per my first message, the cron job gives an error when trying to run... but if I type in '/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null https://scphotography.co.uk/galleries/sy-admin/sy-cron.php' I get the message as per above and my server then spit out any test email messages in the que!

Can you offer some help?

I don't know why you would be getting the error in your first post. I would expect you would see that on every page of the admin.

Maybe try this one:

Thanks Tim, that command just function like the one above (except no return output in the ssh terminal)... once entered, it turfs out any previous test emails and that's it... you can add test emails afterwards and they just sit waiting... nothing automated!

One thing comes to mind, which may have nothing to do with it. My install was under a different domain 'clarkesphotography.co.uk' it was hosted on the same server as my main domain. I wanted to combine my sites, so I just moved the install folder to a location inside my scphotography domain. The database remained the same, it's just the address going to the install folder changed... everything seems to work perfectly fine, I've had order, plus the sitemaps generate correct... so I haven't thought nothing else of it...

Could there be an underline issue with me doing that? I really don't know...

The domain name won't have anything to do it with it.

I am not familiar with how 1and1 does cron jobs (actually dislike that host), but just did a search and found these links (which seems to be way over complicated for this since cPanel hosting makes it pretty easy).
