As always - FABULOUS WORK!!! Have been craving this feature built into the site! And it is so easy to use and add collections, and to add images from different galleries!!! And love the way it is easy to go back and see the configuration from the order after it is placed!! So I have a few thoughts right off the bat...

- perhaps there would be a way to zoom in, similar to previewing and image? Just a set magnification size to examine a bit closer.

- when clicking on "collections", is it possible to show the collection name and price below the collection?

- if there are several collections, the image list gets long, so perhaps a way to tile them justified like the stacked gallery options - just so they fit neater on the page?

- possible to add a printable preview of the purchased collection for order/workflow purposes? And as an added bonus, possible to have the share button available to email/facebook others for approval or just to promote?

I just love how simple it is and how fast it works. As future considerations, would it be possible to have those collections be built on the admin side, and then have specific ones available on specific price lists?

Thank you for the incredible addition!!

Hi Tim

Thanks for the addition of wall designer. It does however add products (with prices) that do not agree with my product base. The prices need to be added in the Wall Designer admin area.

Why not simply pull the pricing from the relevant price list? Some of my galleries are priced differently so this is an extra thing to keep an eye on.

Thanks

Looks great TIm. I am having problems with the framed prints though. When I try to select one it just hangs. Canvases are working fine. Such as in this Gallery http://www.richardmcgibbon.com/galleries/prints/standard/index.php?view=room&photo=ae39faaaf19b0b52df1b44aeb72a09c6&return=1

Just a few more observations for Wall designer...

- when choosing images from the slide in list on the right, image numbers would be helpful. Maybe have overlays similar to on-photo

- at the bottom of the slide in list on the right, add a "favorites" tab to go to clients fav list

- possibly an option to hide the sidebar (if in use) while using wall designer

- possible to have a default or expandable full-screen view?

- when cropping dialogue is open, it is possible to accidentally move the frame of the image, thus taking it out of alignment for a collection. possible to lock frame position while cropping?

- possible to have draggable cropping/zooming instead of the arrows?

- possible to add plateau discounting for purchasing like in other areas of sytist? Say if a client hits $500, 10% discount automatically, etc.

Can you direct to where it is possible to upload more stock rooms? I was digging on the server but was unable to find it.

Thanks!

Hi Tim
When I first open the wall designer on the website I get shown a tiny little 10x10 print or so hanging on the wall. Is there anyway to change that so that the first print is big and impressive? I have tried setting the defaults but it doesn't seem to affect the first image.

When I try to adjust the frame I am only shown a small part of a very large sample image making it difficult to make the adjustments. Any ideas?

Also is there somewhere to download a selection of pre-shot room photos that you can recommend? Just a couple of variations to get the ball rolling.
Thanks

Hi Tim,

Yay I was looking forward to this feature! Unfortunately my "free" update time is up and I am just calculating if I should pay for another year to get this feature. (I have an iPad version similar to Wall Designer but this would save me time doing in person sessions if customers can see the images on their walls).

One suggestion thought, can we link/lock collections together? So instead of moving each individual print around we can click and drag the whole lot around, especially handy if we change room backgrounds and we need to reposition the prints.

Keep up the great work :)

Great work!

I have a couple of questions:

1) How do I change the default Wall Designer "thumbnail" image that is displayed in client galleries. It is currently displaying this:
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/sytist1/wall-designer.jpg

2) How do I change the default canvas/print size when clients first enter the Wall Designer? It is currently showing a small square and I want to default it to a large canvas.

It is a 12x12" (or 30x30cm) and there is currently not a way to change that. I may add an option to set a default product.

When I try to adjust the frame I am only shown a small part of a very large sample image making it difficult to make the adjustments. Any ideas?

Post or email me a screen shot of where you are seeing this or email me the link to your admin with the username and password so I can see.

Also is there somewhere to download a selection of pre-shot room photos that you can recommend?

I use Adobe Stock, but kind of hard to find some good ones.

There is not a way to lock the collection and move the entire collection. If you select a premade collection then select another room, it will automatically center.

Great feature!

Some questions and/or feature requests.

Is it possible to detect the orientation of the print without the user having to manually rotate it?

Can you add prints from more than one gallery to the Wall Designer or would the user have to add all selections to their favorites and use Wall Designer from there?

Is it possible to disable the "purchasing" portion of Wall Designer? ie. using Wall Designer as a selection tool only?

Do you anticipate adding the ability to include additional products from the product base including just prints?

When adding a new print, it adds as the last orientation used.

You would have to save the wall designer and go into the other gallery and selected it from the saved rooms

No

I will probably give the canvas options more options, but don't know about using the product base

Is there a way to change the options of canvas? I offer a lot of products that do not require frames, like metal prints and stand outs. I don't want my clients to think they are only able to choose canvas.

Currently there is not a way to change the options of canvas. Like I mentioned earlier I will probably make more options in the canvas area where you can add names for other products. Though I have no idea how to preview a metal or standout ... it will probably still look like a canvas.

Thanks Tim! I don't think it needs to look any different - standouts and metal can look the same as canvas - I just need difference price points on them, but they are essentially the same thing.

I forgot to say in my first post how much I LOVE this update. Thank you for much for providing this!

I've got the same issue as Valerie. I have two wall display options...canvases and images on wood...they are priced completely different.
A simple solution would be to show the name and not just the size in the Wall Designer. That would be awesome!

You would need to go to Photo Products -> Wall Designer -> Text / Language , click "Edit Additional Text" under the save button and remove the text for "no mat".

The products in the wall designer don't connect to the products in the product base so not a way have them match up in price like that. You could create a design for a customer and send them a link and choose the option to not show the price and quote them a price.

Is there a way that once people open a framed print it always comes up as a default with a matte?

And do you think you will add a way to change the price of collections?

Thanks

Hi Tim!

Fabulous work! I've added some products and sizes to the room designer and it works great. But it seems there's a little bug or maybe it has to do with my settings. When I choose a stock room the framed prints are framed good, but when I upload a custom room view (and off course set a calculated size) the images are scaled right, but the frames don't get the right width. I've included a sample here.

How can I solve this?

Thanks in advance!

After setting up Wall Designer I noticed some things are not working correctly:
1) Shipping is enabled but does not compute in the actual order.

2) Name of Matting Color does not show in Order or Packing Slip.

3) When the customer is creating a Framed Print order the top of the screen shows an approximate total width with frame. This is incorrect and is not actually needed. The frame shown is 24" X 20" with a 2" width but the approximate size shown is 28" X 24".

I'll look into the shipping for the next update coming out soon.

The mat color shows on the order, just not the name. I will look into it.

For the frame size, in my thinking, if you frame for example, a 10x10 print, and the frame has a 1.5" width (3" total), wouldn't that make it approximately 13x13 overall?

But you can hide that info by editing your theme, click additional CSS in the left menu and add this code:

#photoinfo { display: none !important; }

Yes, that is true. But in my example a 17x13 print, and the frame has a 2" width and the matting has a 1.5" width (7" total) wouldn't that make it approximately 24x20 overall not 28x24 as you compute?

I guess it's just the way you can look at it.

Say an 8x10 frame with a 1" frame width would be 10x12 total. But the same frame can also be used to hold a matted 5x7 which the mat would not effect the overall size of the frame.

Just activating Wall Designer will not display Wall Designer if there are no Products added.

Thanks

If there are no other products in the price list, then the wall designer won't show.

But you can make a link in the gallery text to go to the wall designer. The link in basically just ?view=room

So in the text editor of the gallery, type in what you want it to say (like Wall Designer) and highlight the text, click the link icon and enter in ?view=room as the link.

Hello Tim

Thank you so much for the Wall Designer, it's really good. I have two questions:

1 - Will we be able to present multi-aperture frames and wall art any time soon (if at all)?

2 - I sell float frames which have glass between the external frame and the image so the background/wall is visible. When uploading frames as png files the background appears transparent on the admin side (not totally sure that it is though), but not in Wall Designer. Is there a remedy for this?

Thanks

I don't know about the multi-aperture frames .

For the float frames, probably because it is actually using the frame file as a background in the border. I don't know if there will be a solution, but you can email one you are using so I can take a look.

Is there a short code to use in email to link directly to Wall Designer for a gallery? If not, can you make one? :)

For example:
[LINK] = The link to the gallery
[WALL_DESIGNER] = The link to the wall designer

Finally have some time to work on the wall designer and I would say it works well generally but still room for improvement.

One of the major concern for me is the lack of multiple price list, or the ability to link it to the existing price list which I would personally prefer.
Let me explain, I have studio clients who has a set of price list, I also sell fine arts for wall deco with a different set of prices.
I can only activate wall designer for one of them but not both since the prices are different.
On top of that, it will be really nice to link the price directly to the pricelist instead having to define them all over again at the wall designer page.
I do offer quantity discount, for example if they purchase three large print with frame (say 20"x24"). If they order using wall designer, the quantity discount doesn't show up at all.

Another area which I have concern is for print in frame with matting.
When you add a matting, the photo become smaller. I would personally prefer the photo size to be fix as per order since that is way we order print in the lab. The overall size will then be the print size plus matting plus frame. For example, if the customer a print of 12"X18" with frame 1.25" and matting 1.25", the overall size will be 17"x23".

It will also be good to have an option to display or hide a certain frame type while we are working on it. Currently once you activate the wall designer on the price list, all the frames will show up.

This looks really nice!

The display of the images looks great, and the concept is solid. Unfortunately, without being able to link to the products in a price list, it is unusable in real life. Having gone through setting up multiple price lists for different markets, it is not very logical to require the site manager to create yet another price list to be used by the Wall Designer. This approach guarantees problems with incorrect prices and missing options for all but the simplest price lists with few products. Since a database already exists containing the pricing information, it seems very shortsighted to require the creation of a duplicate price list. I can appreciate the challenges of pulling data from the existing price list might be difficult, but Tim, you've done some magical things with Sytist already! I have full confidence you are capable to do this; I'm happy to support your efforts by renewing support each year. Unfortunately, until the Wall Designer can incorporate an existing price list it will remain unusable for me (and many others judging by the comments). I encourage you to keep working on it and add this capability.

Hello!

I did end up getting the yearly subscription to updates and really loving the Wall Designer feature (and the contracts). I just have one questions in regards to collections, is there a way to edit the price on collections?

For example, lets say I want to create a collection of 3 canvases which equals $1,500 ($500 per canvas to keep the numbers simple). But I don't want to charge them for each of the 3 items, I want to create a package to encourage people to purchase a collection rather than just single canvases, so for example the 3 canvas collection becomes $1,000. Since I will be doing in person sales I will be there to help select and place an order but I don't want to explain to someone "Just ignore the pricing I will fix it later" as I want to create the order with them so when I get home the order is already emailed to them 100% correct and there is no "We have changed our minds".

Thank you!

Hello Tim

What is this "Frame Photos" area in Wall Designer for and how does one edit it?

Will there be a way to add a description of the Frame being viewed by the client in Wall Designer?

Thanks
