Disable Mini Menu For Sections (or Categories?)

I'd like to be able to disable the top mini menu on pages that aren't related to selling. It doesn't make sense to me to have login etc.on the home page, blog pages and portfolio pages.
I can't seem to find a way to turn it off. I understand that you can use css (#shopmenucontainer { display: none; } ) but how can this be implemented on a section by section basis?

You would have to duplicate your current theme to create a new one. Add that code to the additional CSS section.
Then in the sections or pages, select the new theme to use. To select a new theme in pages, click more options link and look for the theme option. For sections, edit the section, click Design Options and select the theme there.

I can't get this to work as described.
I can get the CSS to work if I use the new theme for the whole site, as described in this post https://www.picturespro.com/support-forum/sytist/index.php?t=25438-login-section-only-on-the-client-shopping-page
That is probably what I want - though it would be good to get the mini menu showing on all the pages associated with the galleries - the icons may be a bit cryptic for my customers

So the new theme which you added the CSS code to hide the mini menu, when you select that theme for a page, it is not removing it?

No, there is no change when I select the theme for a single page. Havn't tried for a section...

Are you sure you are selecting the correct theme ... the one with the additional CSS to hide the mini menu? I have just tested it and it works for me.

Just tested again. It works fine for the other sections, but does not work for the home page. see gallery.sport-alive.com - home page vs. portfolio

Not sure why the theme isn't overriding for the home page.
You can do this too do hide the mini menu
When editing your home page, click the Video section and put this code in the video embed section
<style>#shopmenucontainer { display: none; }</style>

You probably have the top mini menu set to pin to the top of the screen in your theme.
You can try this:
<style>#shopmenucontainer, #smc { display: none !important; }</style>
