Google Will No Longer Allow You To Send Smtp Mails From Sityst From 05/30/2022

sityst to send mail via smtp needs to be enabled (in the security of both normal gmail and google workgroup) access to "less secure apps" which are disabled by default.
From 05/30/2022 google will no longer allow this and sityst will only be able to send emails via phpmail with the obvious spam problems.
I hope a solution is found in time

My first thought is not to use google for a couple of key reasons, you are stuck in their corporate circle, and you have no control. The simple solution is to set up your email on your own server, no more issues.

There wasn't a direct integration with gmail. You are just using the SMTP PHPMailer with your gmail.

You will need to use your server / hosting SMTP email. Instructions here:

the phpmail smtp with all google and domain google (workgroup) services will no longer work in 20 days.

I don't think I'm the only one who uses his own domain inside google services with much satisfaction.

you can also decide not to support more secure authentication, but it is very dangerous to use your own domain to send automatic emails from the site, because if you run out of a spam list you have burned the domain.

from today the smtp mail function of sityst no longer works with normal gmail and with e-mails associated with google workgroup.

the only way is to go back to php mail and prepare for complaints from customers who do not receive emails because they ended up in spam :(

Marco, i have plenty of customers that use gmail and my emails still ended up in spam. There are ways on your server to help emails from ending up in spam, but it is not fool proof. Customers with high spam filtration and browser add-ons make it impossible to guarantee they get the email. Even on my contact form i have "If you do not see our email check your spam" Plus i feel many customers use that as an excuse even though they did get the email, especially if it was a something that was going to expire and they did not want to pay at the moment.

So the only solution to this is to not use google to host my emails? This is really a poor option. The reason I am using google is because of how bad the host was at emails. I really need a solution to this. I have numerous clients who did not get their gallery invites that we are completely unaware of. Why was this not a notification in Sytist so that we were all aware of it? Is there a solution to this being worked on or are we just expected to change our enitre model in order to accommodate the website that is not working as intended?

AGAIN: There wasn't a direct integration with gmail. You are just using the SMTP PHPMailer with your gmail to send emails through your gmail.

You will need to talk to GOOGLE about it since THEY are the ones who no longer allow it!

I spoke to google and they referred me to this configuration setting. https://support.google.com/a/answer/2956491?hl=en
It is how to configure for smtp relay. I am currently trying to set this up but not yet have it working. Not sure if it is because the server has to accept the configuration changes or something else but i will respond to this thread with an update

the various wordpress, prestashop etc work with google in smtp mode, because they have various plugins available that use the google API.
the solution is not to ask google but to add to sityst what all the other CMS already have.
The solution exists

Yeah so far no luck with this solution. I am getting failed to connect messages in Sytist. It would be nice if Sytist could just be updated to properly handle this

Spent all morning on the phone with google. Tried changing a bunch of options. Smtp option is no longer making a connection to gmail server. We even tried a regular gmail account not on my domain and still timed out. I am at a complete loss now and have no way to streamline emails to my clients.

If anyone has a solution they have come up with please let me know. I don’t want to have to revamp my entire business over this

This is what I’m doing right now. Problem is that i think there is an issue with cPanel also that is rejecting emails and google is rejecting them with an error. So i am unable to consistently use any emails at this point.
