Page Designer Overwrites My Home Page Every Time

If I create a new page and use Page Designer when I save this design also becomes my Home Page. Any amendments, loaded templates, anything saved to this new page affect my home page.

If I create a page without using Page designer the changes do not affect the home page.

Not sure if this is a clue or is relevant to the problem I am having but when starting a new blank page and selecting "Page Designer" the page loads with the Home Page template.

Any ideas anyone?

I am unable to duplicate that and really don't know how it would be possible ... unless you are just editing a template which it might look like the home page, but it isn't.

Can you post or email me screenshots including the URLs of the pages so I can see?

Hi Tim

Thought it might be a tricky one.

This is how I am going about it:

1. Creating a page in a section.
https://www.garywilliamson.co.uk/galleries/gallery-for-tim/#photo=7186ef300d5e77862794f205c9b2a7ea

2. After page created I only added "just added text" in text area then published.

3. Final published page

After typing this reply I wondered if the "Ampersand" in the title could be the issue so renamed the folder as it gave this URL:
https://www.garywilliamson.co.uk/about--info/for-tim/
After renaming it is now this but is no different as I tried a new page again:
https://www.garywilliamson.co.uk/about-info/for-tim/

Happy to add you as an administrator so you can have a look at my set up. Let me know what email to use if you want me to do this.

Thanks for any assistance.

Gary

I believe what is happening is that the pages you are creating are not actually getting created and instead of showing a 404 page not found page, it is showing the contents of the home page.

I can change the URL to something like this, https://www.garywilliamson.co.uk/about-info/for-t, which does not exist, and it does the same thing.

Might be a change on the server and now the permissions have changed and folders are not writable. Email me FTP access and I can check and confirm.

Just to make others reading this aware Tim checked out my web-site and found the folder structure had been altered (folder deleted) causing my issue.

This followed a server upgrade and me carrying out some husbandry to keep my space allocation in check - yes it was ME that deleted it. Still not sure how I did that.

Thank you Tim for the great support and a great product in Sytist.
