Hi Everyone / Tim,

I know this question has been asked before but wanted to know if there was an update.

Is there a way to FTP photos into an existing gallery and have them become available for customers to view without manually pressing a process button?

If there is currently not an option for this in Sytist, is there any workarounds until this becomes available (if ever)?

Seems I may have to look for another solution for a photo booth project if Sytist is unable to automatically update a gallery after an FTP upload.

Thanks in advance!

There is just no function available to do that. I don't know if and when that functionality will be added.

I seem to recall someone telling me one time they were able to do something similar with some automated stuff with the browser, but I can't remember who or how they did it.

Hey Tim,

I'm in the same boat as well. This is fairly crucial for photo booth companies. I honestly think Sytist could become the go to solution for boothers if that feature was added.

Regards,

Michael

What if you just had to process the first batch of photos (or actually just an empty folder) for the gallery and let the window stay open and as long as the window was open it the browser it would process photos? Not possible now, but an idea I have that might work like that.

That would work for a quick fix, but leaves room for timeouts and errors. Also, if a business has multiple photo booths out in one night, one upload directory would not accommodate multiple galleries.

Ideally, if each gallery had a watch folder and processed photos in that directory in a set time increment, that would solve the issue for many photo booth companies as well as photographers that want their photos to be available immediately to their clients.

I understand the functionality is not currently available, however, I would agree with Michael that if this feature is incorporated into Sytist, not only would photographers have new features to offer clients, but Sytist could be marketed to photo booth companies.

I actually just finished up something for the next update for this. Basically what I wrote above.

You create a folder in the sy-photos folder like you would for uploading photos via FTP.

In the upload dialog where you process the photos that have been uploaded via FTP I have added the option for a Watch Folder.

What happens is it opens in a new tab and while it is open it will watch for new photos then process them. I also added a check to make sure the time of the photo being uploaded to the server is more than 30 seconds so it doesn't try to process a photo that has not completely uploaded.

As long as the tab or window is open it will process photos ... even hours later.

You can have multiple tabs open for multiple galleries if you wanted it.

the only software i ever saw that came close to doing that cost over $ 1000 per server. One laptop work as a server and the other could see it they were another couple hundred each.

Brilliant news!!

This will work well for my Meet & Greets - YouTuber fans aren't the most patient after they have met their heroes :-)

I've a 3 day A lister event happening shortly and this will also work very well.

That’s superb news, looking forward to it. Especially useful with my offline version at events.

Thank you Tim.

In preparation for this I have tested a few pieces of software.

As an Equestrian Event photographer it is not unusual to take 5,000-10,000 images in a day from the team which are split into different disciplines and within these sub-folders and sometimes within those another layer of sub-folders. I therefore need something that will resize the images and upload them automatically whilst maintaing the folder structure and I think I have an answer, ImBatch, approx 5,000 images with only a few minor images

ImBatch is Windows only, for those on Mac, Yummy Folder Watcher May do the trick.

Michael Weeks - would it be possible for you to contact me? I am an equestrian photographer and I’m using Sytist this season instead of 5 Minute Photo onsite. I’d love to get a sense of your workflow using Sytist on site.

Hi Michael, thanks for the software referral of ImBatch, looks pretty powerful!

Hi Tim, would you be able to give us an estimate of the next release date that included this auto-upload feature (watch folder).

Thanks!

I forgot about this thread.... Just emailed Tim! :)

I'm trying to use the watch folder for my photo booth uploads using allway sync to automatically uploaded photos from a watch folder to the ftp folder BUT, as soon as the watch folder on the ftp moves the file for processing, my watch folder on my PC uploads the file again.... Does anyone know of a way that I can move the local file to another folder or delete it once it has been uploaded?

Thanks,

Michael!
