Moving Site/domain (including Sytist) To New Host Server

What must be done to get Sytist functioning on new host? I guessing that merely copying everything over wont work. Do I need a new "key" or can I just copy something over? It's been so long since I first installed this stuff I don't recall how it was done -- initially it was PC back around 2006 or earlier as I recall :)

CRAP...

I got busy with all of the various parts of migrating the entire site from the old server and forgot the step of exporting the systist db... and the old site is now irretrievable. &^%##$@@#@

Is there anything I can do now besides completely starting everything from scratch. Because I did backup the entire domain, I do have everything from the sytist directory except no database.

The database is the key thing, it holds all the data. Without the database, you will have to install from scratch. If you still have access to the old hosting control panel, you may be able to export it. If not, when you re-install, email me your registration key so I can reset it.

without the previous installation to log into, where do I find the registration key you are requesting? I do have all of the data from the previous installation minus the db. I am told that the old hosting CP is no longer accessible to attempt a retrieval of the old db.

I must say that I'm continually amazed at the speed of your support response. Within minutes of my email requesting to have the reg key reset, I received a reply that it was done... I first began using PC back in the early days, circa 2004 and the support has been consistent... kudos again...

I now have the new installation online on the new server. Is there any structure/framework I can recover from my backup of the earlier installation -- or was everything in the db that I inadvertently abandoned? Categories, sections, etc? I don't even recall how I had it setup... I rarely went and looked at it after I set it up and that was soon after your initial release of Sytist.

Thanks Byron

Without the database, the rest of the files are useless. Even if you have folders of categories, pages, etc ... the reference IDs in those files are from the database. So unfortunately you will have to start from scratch.

Hi Tim,
I would like to purchase a new copy of Sytist for a new domain, but I would like to keep most of the settings, pages and billboards and things that I have already created on my initial site. I don't want to duplicate the client galleries, however. Is it possible to duplicate everything except the galleries?

You would have to export database tables from the old install and import them into the new install through the PHPMyAdmin in your hosting control panel. I would have to create you a list of tables to export / import.

But if you don't want to duplicate the galleries / photos, you would have to re-do the billboards because those photos are are mixed in where the client gallery photos are.

Thanks! That's too much work for you—I will just duplicate everything and then go in and delete the galleries. THANKS SO MUCH!!! :)
